*Use code Johnson30 for 30% off a new Prep Redzone subscription*

We continue our deep dive into the talent pool encompassing the Madison area. Just like we did with the RBs, our circle of coverage for this article goes from Waunakee to Mt. Horeb to Verona, Oregon, Stoughton, up to Sun Prairie and the circle finishes back to Waunakee. This article is made up over the best WRs and TEs from those Madison teams, and I expect every one of these athletes to be heavily pursued by the different levels of college football. There is truly talent for every level in this group, making the region a must stop for all recruiting WI. Let's dive in!

The top receiving talent from the Madison area is one of the best pure athletes in the entire state. Eli is an intriguing football recruit, and an even more talented basketball recruit. The 6'9" 220 lbs 2027 brings one of the rarest frames to the football field, yet is so smooth with his route running. The big man easily soars above DBs for above the rim catches and boxes out on passes to his chest. Eli is still very raw too. He holds multiple D1 basketball offers and I would predict that is the sport he pursues at the next level, but as long as he is displaying his talents on the gridiron we will be here to cover the special talent.

[player_tooltip player_id='1729995' first='Mac' last='Johnson'] of Waunakee is one of the most versatile TEs in the Class of 2027. He didn't get to contribute a ton as a receiver in 2025 because Mac was busy earning All Conference honors as an OL. The 6'5" 230 lbs junior bolstered his run blocking dominance with all that experience. Look for Mac to return in 2026 and prove that he is the best blocking TE in this Class. He is so quick to his man, plays with great hand placement, and easily stays square on his man while flashing the power that he is building into that prototypical frame. At this point it looks like Mac is going to be a massive steal.

Another member of the Waunakee TE room is [player_tooltip player_id='2103479' first='Jackson' last='Kidd']. Jackson did get to play TE in 2025 and would finish with 19/187/1 on the season. The 2027 is another athlete who checks the box of an outstanding frame for the TE position at 6'4" 220 lbs. The big man further impresses with his athleticism at that size. Jackson was utilized a ton on quick passes to the flats near the line of scrimmage. That way he could use his size, athleticism, and strength to create the majority of his yards after the catch. I'm excited to see if he gets utilized more downfield this season. However he is used, Kidd is going to be one of the best athletes in Madison to watch.

The best WR in the Madison area is Verona's [player_tooltip player_id='1653433' first='Dejon' last='Knutson']. The 6' 160 lbs 2027 WR is a dominant athletic specimen. He is an athlete that can do everything out wide with speed and quick twitch agility. His elite ball skills and strong hands allow him to take the top off the defense and battle through contact to secure catches. He has a powerful lower body that bursts him out of route breaks to open up separation for his QB to easily target. His ability to track the ball jumps off the tape too. Dejon is a kid that can get open before the catch, but will also easily go and make a play for his QB.

Another need to know WR coming from the Madison area is Madison Memorial's [player_tooltip player_id='1336932' first='Sam' last='Aparicio']. The 5'8" 160 lbs 2027 has such a finely tuned skill set. The kid seems to always have an exact plan for how he is going to run his route. A plan that he can execute with pinpoint route breaks. Sam separates himself from the WR crowd with how effortless yet explosive he can get in and out of those route breaks. That same explosive athleticism also allows him to be very elusive after the catch. This kid has developed into a serious mismatch out wide.

McFarland's passing attack features multiple weapons who will all be back in 2026. The 2nd member of that group is TE [player_tooltip player_id='1620345' first='Parker' last='Roh']. The 6'5" 215 lbs athlete led the team with 43/581/7 in 2025. You will find Parker in an H-back type of role that allows him to get a clean release off the line and quickly open up separation vs LBs. The big man is an easy target with his reliable hands giving his QB a very large catch radius. Parker has that second gear in space too, looking more like a big WR than a TE when he really opens up and strides it out. I'm expecting a big summer and fall from the McFarland standout.

Next up we have Honorable Mention All State WR [player_tooltip player_id='1620377' first='Ben' last='Morey']. The 2027 WR put on a show in 2025 with his dominance as a vertical threat. He finished with 41/876/12, good enough for a 21.4 yds/rec average. Everything from the stats to the tape screams that Ben is a WR that you can utilize to stretch the field. It isn' just raw speed that sparks those big plays through. Ben is a savvy, tricky route runner who uses double moves or head fakes or other tricks to get DBs to bite and put themselves out of position. Give Ben an inch of leverage on a DB and he will make them pay. Don't miss out on this exciting weapon.

Our third member of the McFarland receiving group is a new athlete on my radar. 2027 WR finished last season with 40/392/5. The junior did his damage in the short to intermediate ranges of the field. Areas where his QB could go to quickly and have a guy there that he knew could get open quickly and secure the catch. Grayson is also a WR who can turn those quick passes into big gains with some elusive runs after the catch. Grayson is also a talented baseball recruit.

We wrap up our best Madison receiving threats with one member of the Class of 2028. Mt. Horeb's [player_tooltip player_id='2112363' first='Django' last='Christian'] stepped into the WR1 role this past season and proved to be a go to weapon. The 5'8" 155 lbs '28 WR finished the season with 32/471/7. The sophomore already possesses that quickness to get clean releases and acceleration to be able to stack CBs and stretch the field. Django has a great, natural skill to track the ball on those deep passes. He also has the hands to be able to reel in the ball even when it is at the very tips of his reach.
