5A Georgia High School Programs On The Rise

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>There are many teams in the state who could compete to dethrone Thomas County Central, which was victorious in the 5A state championship in 2025. Among all of the teams in the state, I believe that these three teams make a sneaky good case to be considered to pull it off.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><mark class="has-inline-color has-primary-color">Milton</mark></strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Milton Eagles have been one of the more important teams in the 5A division over the past few years, and they will have the chance to be great this season. They have some great talent on both sides of the ball, as they have some very talented wide receivers along with some uber-talented defensive backs. The star of this team will be their quarterback, [player_tooltip player_id='409921' first='Derrick' last='Baker']. Baker is very talented and has the chance to lead the Eagles far before he makes his way to Knoxville. Kee Wonsley and [player_tooltip player_id='416494' first='Grant' last='Haviland'] will be two others to know.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><mark class="has-inline-color has-primary-color">Rome</mark></strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Rome Wolves were great last season, and they will be great this season as well. They have a ton of young talent with guys like [player_tooltip player_id='1626146' first='Aidan' last='McPherson'] in the boat. He is one of the more athletic quarterbacks in the class, with some solid rushing traits. He has a ton of guys around him that will make a difference. He has some of the more balanced players around him in the state, which leads me to believe that this state is in danger with these guys looking to make a run.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><mark class="has-inline-color has-primary-color">Roswell</mark></strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Roswell is in an interesting situation, as they have a lot of talent around them, and will be in one of the more intriguing spots this season. They have one of the better defensive backs in the state with [player_tooltip player_id='1864998' first='Nick' last='Daniels'], and they will have a solid offense that is going to score some points on Friday nights. Returning [player_tooltip player_id='1732905' first='Dre' last='Cousey'] is the best thing this team could have done, as they will be in great shape thanks to the roster that they will be returning, but in this upcoming season, you will see a ton of new faces that have the chance to be difference makers.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><mark class="has-inline-color has-primary-color">Gainesville</mark></strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Gainesville is losing a ton of talent, but this isn't a team that rebuilds; it is a team that just reloads. They have a ton of talent returning as well, as they will be led by [player_tooltip player_id='885409' first='Kharim' last='Hughley'], who is one of the more intriguing gunslingers in the state. The other star returning to this offense is [player_tooltip player_id='662615' first='Nigel' last='Newkirk'], who is simply a standout star. He is one of the better athletes in the state, and will have the chance to prove that yet again following a massive season in Gainesville, Georgia.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><mark class="has-inline-color has-primary-color">Chamblee</mark></strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Chamblee High School is the sleeper on this list, as this is a team that recently had a negative record, but if there was a team that had a negative record and could cause some havoc, it would be Chamblee. They have some great players coming back, with two of the names coming to mind being wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id='1091397' first='Jazz' last='Lewis'], who is the son of former NFL star Jamal Lewis, and quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='951325' first='Brayden' last='Doss']. Both players have the chance to be even better this year with more of their returning guys doing the same. This team is on the rise without a doubt.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
