Sunday night, braving the temperature in the teens and a toddler battling the flu at home, PrepRedzoneMN braved the journey down to Savage to check out the premier, trailblazing QB trainer in the Land of 10,000 and his one-of-a-kind QB academy for the second (maybe third) consecutive year. Quinn Frisell, the architect of 612Q's and the groundbreaking 612Q's Academy, a long-term, three-pronged approach to prep QB development focusing on athletic training, classroom education, and on-field practice, all specifically tailored to the QB position. Split into an Elite and Premier group division, PRZMN got to watch the Elite Academy, at the MASH Performance facility in Savage, go to work with a fantastic crop of drills applicable to many different, yet predictable, throwing situations and settings prep and college QBs will face in-game. This week, after a month of throwing only from their base, the Elite Academy was focusing on off-platform passes and scenarios, so keep that in mind when I'm discussing accuracy and the specific performance of this session's standouts! Enjoy!

--

612Q's Elite Academy 2026 Pic #2 #NameThatQB

The Maple Grove turned Wayzata well-known gunslinger [player_tooltip player_id='725721' first='Thor' last='Soukup'] is a familiar face to PRZMN on the offseason circuit, as he's a diligent worker and a long-time trainee of 612Q's. Although the 2025 season did not go as planned for both Wayzata and Soukup himself, the kid is still a can't-miss quarterback in a non-padded competitive setting and especially, as he proved yesterday, in an off-platform context. The forklift of a quarterback was pretty much on the $ all afternoon long, showing off a smooth, compact, and quick release that was arguably the best on the move of the non-seniors in attendance. A lot of the drills had "rushers" in the face or simulating pressure of the thrower, and Soukup was especially proficient at getting the ball out quickly, with velocity, and from a variety of different arm angles. I also liked his twitchy short-area movement ability and concise footwork also stood out in an off-platform setting, and it was easy to see that Soukup's tremendous overall strength allowed him to easily complete and handle tougher throws from difficult, uncomfortable, yet applicable to game setting angles that other QBs in his class struggled with. Never hurts to hit the weight room. Going to be a huge "prove it" year for Wayzata in 2026, and Soukup will be right at the forefront of this comeback season. Keep an eye on this forklift of a QB this coming summer as well.

https://twitter.com/612Qs/status/2026004967136383296

You gotta make the most of an opportunity to see a Rochester-area prospect in an offseason camp setting in the 612, and PRZMN thoroughly enjoyed the up-close-and-personal evaluation of Byron's talented 2027 signal-caller [player_tooltip player_id='1248630' first='Eli' last='Rodemeyer'] in Savage. I got to see Byron play Holy Angels early into the 2025 season this past fall, but Mankato State-bound [player_tooltip player_id='1104940' first='Carson' last='Heimer'] did a lot of the heavy lifting offensively (and defensively) for Byron that day in Richfield, so seeing Byron's QB in the spotlight in a camp setting was a really well-needed eval right before the update dropped. Rodemeyer is fresh off an early offer from NSIC heavyweight Augustana, a great start for an up-and-coming QB's recruitment, and I walked away from Savage very impressed with the Byron product at this off-platform Elite Academy session. Rodemeyer is overall strong and accurate on the move and off-platform and is able to put the pigskin on a rope from tougher arm angles both stationary and while on the move. I think Rodemeyer was the best performer (besides [player_tooltip player_id='489731' first='Kaden' last='Harney']) at a lot of the impressive drill work ran by 612Qs in the latter half of the workout. His clean, consistent footwork and the fact that his upper and lower body were well in-synch really aided him in an off-platform context, namely a drill where the QB spins away 180 degrees to their left away from a rusher, then plant and deliver a strike to a WR. Rodemeyer also looked good punching up, flowing left, and hitting a stationary target while on the move, as well as a ton of great reps with pressure in his face. Rodemeyer also had a strong showing throwing competitive sail routes in a "hit or go home" sudden death competition that really allowed the QBs to show off some arm talent. Good showing overall from the Top 100 overall prospect and Top 5 QB in Minnesota's Class of 2027.

PRZMN is quite bullish on 2028 Mankato East QB [player_tooltip player_id='1581375' first='Kellen' last='Willaert'], and you'll see the 507 sophomore quarterback make an impressive debut on the upcoming 2028 ranking's update this coming month. Willaert has now impressed in both padded and unpadded, game and camp settings, and he one of the better arms in attendance in terms of accuracy, release, and mechanics, not to mention consistency, in addition to a great frame that is going to be able to hold significantly more weight as he enters his upperclassman and eventual college QB eras. Willaert was more than hanging with upperclassmen arms at the 612Q's Elite Academy, and although you could tell that being outside of the pocket and on the move wasn't his natural and most comfortable setting, he was flashing some very impressive throws from challenging angles and settings, but it was obvious by the delivery and end-product when Willaert was locked into his mechanics or not. The Mankato East sophomore also threw a couple really impressive sail routes near the end of the workout, solidifying our overall positive impression of the young and up-and-coming gunslinger who helped engineer one of East's best seasons in modern program history.

With the 2027 Rankings Update live and published on PRZMN, the 2028s in Minnesota are firmly on the clock, and although a lot is going to change from this current Big Board in the coming update, you can bet your butt that [player_tooltip player_id='1543013' first='Reed' last='Creighton'] is going to stay in the top of the 2028 QB heap. With another year of weight room work and natural development from the last offseason, Creighton looks like he's added a bit of size, both vertically and on the bathroom scale, and he showed good overall comfortability in an off-platform context for a sophomore playing in Class AAA in Minnesota. Although he was a bit up and down accuracy-wise throughout the afternoon, Creighton was particularly on the $ when he locked in and focused on his mechanics while on the move, and he also proved he can accurately deliver the football in the face of pressure and outside of the pocket. You can tell that Creighton is comfortable in a variety of arm angles on a variety of different routes, and the sophomore flashed some really impressive balls throughout the afternoon in Savage. Keep an eye on where the Belle Plaine product lands in the upcoming 2028 Rankings Update next month.

Coming off a good season in the 5A ranks with Waconia, junior QB Karsen Herman is a legit 6'4 with a ton of room to fill in, looking and flashing the part of a traditional, big-bodied, pocket-passer that college offensive programs love so much. With one of the biggest arms in attendance, Herman was up-and-down accuracy-wise, and his ball was sailing a bit, but man, the Waconia product has a huge arm and flashed some of the more impressive throws and overall arm talent at the Elite Academy. He has the potential to command the entire route tree with deadly results, especially with the outstanding touch he throw on his deeper and more intermediate routes he showed on Sunday. Herman was especially impressive in a drill designed to have the QB roll left and deliver the ball quickly and accurately between a window of two rushers, and I'm really interested to see how this current offseason and development impacts Herman's recruitment and Waconia's potential in 2026. Going to be a massive offseason for Herman! Stay tuned!

Representing the Prior Lake Lakers, backup QB [player_tooltip player_id='1290754' first='Bauer' last='Tabatt'] is working is tail off this offseason. The 612Q's staff was sharing that Tabatt has been an excellent performer so far through the Elite Academy's offseason development, showing a ton of confidence and accuracy from the base and from more traditional QB angles inside and around the pocket. Tabatt flashed some impressive reps of timing and touch through the afternoon of work, and with the Lakers' QB1 spot up for grabs in 2026, I'd keep an eye on Tabatt as a potential sleeper in the state's 2027 QB class.

The lefty standout from Holy Family was a fun watch on Sunday down in Savage, as the legit 6'2, lefty gunslinger has done a good job of developing his arm and body from last offseason. [player_tooltip player_id='1547262' first='Ethan' last='Ryan'] proved the fact that he can really push the ball downfield with accuracy, touch, and timing when rolling out to his left and dominant side on Sunday night, and off-platform throws seemed to be easily be in Ryan's skillset thanks to his work with 612Qs.

PRZMN is very excited about the New Prague Trojans 2026 roster and 2027 class of prospects. The Trojans' QB, in particular, is one we are going to be keeping a very close eye on going forward. [player_tooltip player_id='1581347' first='Carter' last='DenHartog'] proved at the 612Q's Elite Academy Sunday session that he has as much arm talent as anyone in attendance. However, consistency was a big issue at times, but when DenHartog could put things together in terms of footwork and mechanics, his arm really popped and threw balls with as much accuracy and zip as anyone else in the group. Again, this is in an off-platform setting, so I'm not super concerned with it impacting his overall projection to the college level, as I think the New Prague product would be a great fit for a DIII and/or MIAC roster spot and eventual starting role! Keep an eye on New Prague this weekend at the state wrestling meet, as well as it's plethora of multi-sporters this offseason camp circuit going into the 2026 season.
