Our rankings are filled with talented college prospects. But there's plenty of talent on our watchlist, too. Last rankings update, we had five players enter the top half of our rankings directly from the watchlist, and a host of others who rose after initially being watchlist players. In this spring series, we're evaluating every player on our 2027 watchlist. Who knows? Maybe some of these guys make their mark in the next rankings update.

2027 Watchlist Quarterbacks

Editor's Note: There are three primary types of players on the watchlist.

A player we've seen in camp or have heard about through coaches and other scouting channels who does not have extensive varsity film.

A player who claimed a profile and was very quickly put on the watchlist as a placeholder.

(Our least favorite): A player who was once put on the watchlist, but who our staff has not had the chance to re-evaluate.

One of the reasons I love this watchlist series is that it allows me time in the offseason to put eyes on every player in our system. If history is any indication, our spring update will be the largest wave of watchlist-to-ranked players of the year. Typically, I add around 25% of our current watchlist players to the rankings as I write this series. Let's get to it. Here's every 2027 watchlist quarterback.

Sarver has excellent size and flashed in limited reps as a junior. He has good footwork and pocket presence, allowing him to deliver the ball, even when under pressure. While he's not a run-first quarterback, Sarver has movement skills and can use his legs to pick up tough yards.

A highly athletic lefty, Carpenter has all the tools to not only be on the radar of college programs, but to be a popular player on the recruiting trail. He has a great arm, excellent size, and can eat up yards in a hurry as a runner. We're looking for him to be more consistent, but given the tools and experience, he's likely to find himself in the rankings next update.

I'll take the blame here. Ehret has shown more than enough to be a ranked player, and I just missed him in the last update. He's a gunslinger who can create in the pocket and isn't afraid to throw into coverage, which I like. As he grows in consistency, expect to hear his name more often.

Rowley transferred to Mallard Creek and earned some varsity run as a sophomore on a team in transition. He's athletic enough to escape the pocket and deliver downfield, and even though he fell a bit on the depth chart in 2025, he has plenty of talent.

After being on our watchlist for several seasons, Gillis finally broke out with a strong junior season as the varsity starter. Gillis threw 17 touchdowns while taking care of the ball, and his recent growth spurt has him looking like a much more viable college prospect and destined for a spot in the rankings.

Furr had a breakout season as a junior, even if the raw numbers don't pop on paper. He's extremely athletic, a true dual-threat who ran for around six yards per carry. He also took care of the ball, with only two interceptions on an offense that mainly ran the ball for about half of his starts. He started to earn more passing volume down the stretch, and the early returns as a starter are promising.
