While we always cover younger classes, we've officially turned the page on the 2026 class to focus exclusively on the classes of 2027-2030. That means that the players who just finished their junior seasons are now in the spotlight. The new 2027 rankings will be released later this month. For the top prospects, extreme upward movement is difficult (they're already too high to move up enough to be considered "stock-risers"), so we're going to introduce you to those elite players, what they do best, and why they'll likely be playing for Power Four schools in the near future.

Scouting the Top 2027 Quarterbacks

The quarterback position in 2027 is a bit weird. It's a deeper class, but one without a "no-brainer" type of prospect. Unlike, say, the linebacker position, which College Football Playoff teams all over the country are flocking to North Carolina to find, the quarterback market has been a bit slower. Even so, there are four or five guys with Power Four upside.

Royal is a gamer, and despite leading arguably the best team in the state, you have to see him in person to really appreciate his talent. He can make every throw, and though his raw numbers aren't in that elite category, his arm talent and pocket movement are. He rarely takes sacks, and he's not afraid to tuck it and run in key situations. He averaged almost nine yards a carry and scored four touchdowns in the playoffs last season.

Nichols lacks elite size, but he's a dynamic runner with a remarkably accurate arm. Typically, when you see a guy in his mold (a smaller guy who creates in the pocket) you'd expect his arm talent and accuracy to lag behind his peers, but Nichols has a strong arm and is accurate to all fields, even on the move.

Broadway took some time to adjust to his transfer into Reidsville, but by the end of the season, the talented junior was clicking on all cylinders. His arm strength is what you'd expect from an FBS prospect, and he's one of the best in the state at off-platform throws. His three-quarter release makes him an interesting study, but the ball flies off his hand, making him one of the best in the state at driving the ball to a spot and throwing an accurate deep ball.

Sevilla grew in front of everyone as a junior starter. He has plenty of starting experience in high school, but last season was his first as the varsity starter. As the season progressed, he began to use his legs more frequently, putting defenses off-balance. He carved up some strong defenses down the stretch and now enters a crucial offseason for his development and recruitment.

A former West Cabarrus transfer, Street excelled in his first year at the helm of the Independence offense, spreading the ball around well with over 2,300 yards. He's a point guard type who makes quick reads out of shotgun and empty sets, and he's a "route over player" type who finds the open guy, rather than trying to force it to his best. That puts pressure on defenses to cover the whole field.
