Expert Analysis

The most polished quarterback on this list is also the guy with the least varsity experience. Sevilla is a true Division 1 prospect in our eyes. His poise and patience in the pocket are impressive, and he’s a quick decision-maker. He delivers on time and with accuracy, and though he’s a passer first, he has some athleticism to punish defenses on both scrambles and designed runs.

During last year’s Deep Dive, I had to go out on a limb to rank Sevilla third, despite having almost no varsity experience. This year, I don’t think it’s particularly shocking to rank him first in the county. As a junior, Sevilla put up over 3,000 total yards, playing at an elite level during Middle Creek’s dream playoff run to the 6A State Championship Final.

You could see Sevilla adjusting to the speed of the varsity game as last season progressed in his first year as a starter. Once the playoffs came, he stepped up his game and was firing on all cylinders. He’s a big-bodied quarterback who gets his hips and legs into his throws, allowing him to fire balls into tight windows with extra velocity and accuracy.

Sevilla grew in front of everyone as a junior starter. He has plenty of starting experience in high school, but last season was his first as the varsity starter. As the season progressed, he began to use his legs more frequently, putting defenses off-balance. He carved up some strong defenses down the stretch and now enters a crucial offseason for his development and recruitment.

(QB, Middle Creek) put together a solid all-around performance in a tough matchup. While a few miscues proved costly, the junior still delivered a balanced game, throwing for over 275 yards and adding 51 rushing yards with a touchdown.
Sevilla showed his ability to impact the game both from the pocket and on the move. With great size, strong arm talent, and better-than-expected speed, he consistently stressed the defense and kept Middle Creek competitive.
Entering next season, Sevilla should absolutely be viewed as one of the top returning quarterbacks in the 919 area—a rising junior with the physical tools and dual-threat ability to take another step forward.
