The 2026 North Carolina high school football regular season is near the halfway point, and smaller colleges are in the middle of building their 2027 recruiting classes. Of course, most FBS schools are nearing the finish line with the senior class, but FCS, D2, D3, and even NAIA schools are just getting started. There are plenty of "senior evaluations" going on, and we're here to help. Let's look at five 2027 quarterbacks who haven't gotten the traction they deserve on the recruiting trail.

One of the top-ranked signal-callers in our 2027 class rankings, Broadway is a gunslinger. While his footwork can occasionally break down (something he's improved on as a senior), he excels at hitting receivers in stride on off-platform throws. He can change arm angles and throw on the move to both the left and right. The ball jumps out of his hand in a way you don't typically see, and while the rushing numbers aren't eye-popping, he's far more athletic than the average high school quarterback. He earned a couple of early offers, and a strong end to the season should move the recruiting needle.

Sevilla's deep ball accuracy pops on film, as it has for years. There simply aren't many (if any) quarterbacks in the state who can consistently put the ball on the money down the field as he can. While he's not the tallest quarterback, he's tough to bring down and runs with natural power, making him a weapon in short-yardage situations. As a senior, he's improved both his accuracy and decision-making. Perhaps most importantly, he can layer passes and excels over the middle of the field.

Ward has gone from a "recruitable guy" to a true D2/FCS prospect as a senior. He's using his athleticism more than he ever has, not just to scramble, but also to create time and space in the pocket. On occasion, he'll get "arm-heavy" and throw from a clean pocket without getting his lower half involved. That's both correctable and shows how impressive his arm is, given that he'll still deliver downfield. The progression we've seen this season has turned projectability into reality.

Irwin has prototypical size and arm talent, so we knew that would eventually translate to more on-field success. So far as a senior, he's playing by far the best football of his career. He's greatly improved his accuracy to all parts of the field, is making better decisions, and he's using his legs to his advantage. He's not the fleetest of foot, but has ample athleticism to escape the pocket and deliver on the run. We've seen him in multiple camp settings over the years, and the improvement from his sophomore to senior offseason is striking.

I love to see young quarterbacks play in rhythm, and Boring is thriving as a decisive quarterback who can deliver on time at the top of his drop. He has some of the best footwork in the state and is so calm in the pocket. That said, he's a willing scrambler and a guy who likes to step up and deliver on the run. His size, field vision, and accuracy should translate to the next level, and I think he's fallen victim to being in an area of the state that isn't as frequently recruited.
