Expert Analysis
Joshua Graham | Prep Redzone Scout
Irvin is a prototypical, big-bodied quarterback with real upside heading into his senior season. Standing at 6’4”, 200 pounds, he brings ideal size to the position and uses it well in the pocket. As a junior, he threw for nearly 1,500 yards and 13 touchdowns, showing the ability to manage the offense and push the ball downfield. A two-sport athlete in baseball, Irvin benefits from strong throwing mechanics, arm strength, and overall athletic coordination that translate directly to the quarterback position. His frame, composure, and multi-sport background point to continued growth, and with another step forward in consistency and command, he has the tools to elevate his recruitment profile moving forward.

If you built a quarterback in a lab physically, you would probably get someone close to Hudson. He’s got the size you want in a major prospect, along with the arm strength. NW Cabarrus last season had a punishing running game, so Hudson made the most of his opportunities when he got them last season. I think he still has a high ceiling to reach as a prospect, and if you were doing a futures bet on a player out of this group, he might end up having the biggest potential out of everyone on this list because of those traits.

Hudson was a previous top performer at the CFI Carolinas Mega Showcase last May, and he showed some more good things while in attendance here as well. Hudson was named an All-Conference quarterback for this past season, and I thought he did well with what he had to work with. The Trojans excelled a lot in the running game this past season, so Hudson took advantage of the opportunities given to him. His physical frame and strong arm are enough to generate interest from colleges, but in the current recruiting environment, he will just have to remain patient, as quarterbacks are facing more and more challenges from the transfer portal than ever.

High upside, that’s the first thing I think about when I see Hudson. Coming into his junior year, it is a big year for him to take a step, and I think he showed some improvement at this showcase from when I saw him live last season. Hudson was more decisive, and his throws/drops were married together much better fundamentally. Hudson showed a big arm on some deep balls, but was able to put some nice touch on the ball to lead receivers to successful catches. I’m hoping Hudson has a big year in the Trojans’ offense, which should garner him some recruiting attention.

The talented 2027 prospect didn’t have a huge night throwing the football, but he was efficient in taking what the defense was allowing, which was a lot of underneath throws and short routes. On those throws in particular, I felt like Hudson got the ball out on time and was accurate with those passes. When Hudson has time and the opportunity, I am confident he will be able to make those mid-range and downfield throws.

, an Elon commit. Hudson does look plenty agile and confident in some 7 on 7 highlights over the summer, and he shows good accuracy throwing to all areas of the field. As he grows and gains arm strength, that will help him not have to be almost perfect with his timing on every throw. Hudson also shows good balance and mechanics when he is not rushed to throw in his drop backs.
