We love watching the play in the offensive trenches take shape on tape, as any wise man knows that with any offensive "it all starts up front" which truly is the case. We start off by leading from the top, by taking a look at breaking down our 2027 South Dakota rankings with the top 5 offensive linemen we have rated in the class. We take a look at what they bring to the table, where they could move by next update, and more!

The highest debut in our 2027 offensive linemen rankings comes in at OL5 in Dell Rapids [player_tooltip player_id='1273539' first='Beckett' last='Nelson']. He was our highest debut for a reason, as his juinor tape really moved the needle in the 2025 season showing off how well-rounded he is as a left guard. As a 6'5 270 pounder, Beckett shows plenty of quick fluidity out of his stance and this gets seen on a consistent basis the more tape you watch on Beckett. If you are a like me and look for offensive linemen that block till that whistle blows, you get that with Beckett as this young man might be the most persistent finisher within this top 5. There surely is a clear path for Beckett to move up in this top 5, without a doubt.

It's kind of crazy to think that both our OL5 and OL4 are both from Dell Rapids with our OL4 being [player_tooltip player_id='1321001' first='Alex' last='Lindeman'] of Dell Rapids St. Mary's. The 6'4 290 pounder has been a constant name in this top 5 of offensive linemen since this 2027 class came out and roll the tape and you can see why. The Cardinals center is dominant at the point of attack and has excellent pad-level that we have seen plenty of growth with that skillset since last summer camp season. His hands draw always quickly and another area where Alex has seen his upside improve since summer is in regards to his footwork. He comes in as our OL4 in this class out of South Dakota's smallest division, 9B which is impressive in itself as Alex was linemen of the game during Dell Rapid St. Mary's Championship run in 9B.

Remember how I said last week that South Dakota 11A was stacked with offensive linemen talent in this 2027 class? We meet our second of the four 11A offensive linemen at OL3 we have [player_tooltip player_id='1293155' first='Ashten' last='Dorhout'] of Madison. Ashen is a missile with his hands when he is able to land his punches in space as you won't miss on the explosiveness traits that Ashten has at his disposal. His pad-level as a right guard pins just about perfectly when he meets his defender at the point of attack and I feel he got more explosive with his footwork from what we saw from his sophomore tape. The Madison Bulldogs have our OL3 in 2027 and our OL1 in 2028 so let's just say their pass protection of top-tier quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1597644' first='Henry' last='Veenhof'] should be in good hands in the upcoming seasons. Ashten surely appears as a solid FCS grade out of this 2027 SD class and has a chance to be OL2 or OL1 by the time this class wraps up.

The last member of 11A in our South Dakota 2027 class top five of offenisve linemen, hails Sioux Falls Christian offensive linemen [player_tooltip player_id='763887' first='Andersen' last='Semchenko'] who lands upwards from last rankings update at OL2. The now 6'7 285 pounder for the Chargers, really moved the needle on tape with his junior seaosn tape from the summer. With him getting approxmately 30 pounds lighter entering the 2025 season, you can notice it quickly with watching his foot speed as he progressed more fluidily in his movement from what we grasped on tape. There is doubt about that Andersen can dominate the point of attack with hands, as the reps you see on tape show off more man-handling capability with how efficently and in control he is getting to the second level. He constantly gets defensive linemen to their breaking point when he gets a hold of them and has a great shot to be our OL1 by next update. TWITTER

Last but certianly not least is our OL1 in the 2027 South Dakota class, which remains the same from last update as [player_tooltip player_id='1300022' first='Dylan' last='Frederick'] of Harrisburg takes the nod. You must watch Dylan's first clip on his junior tape to see the dominance Dylan has at the point of attack as that drive block nearly took his defender into the neighboring county and another skillset you see is the pure hand technique Dylan has at his disposal as one of the best in this class when it comes to that. If you watch the defenders that Dylan goes up against afterwards you get the sense quickly of how worn down they are from the reps which to me is a quick indication of how much Dylan can wear down the defensive trenches He shows off that he can wear down and finish defenders, win with quick accelerating leverage, always almost ideal pad-level and more. No offers yet for Dylan, but they should come very soon.
