Colorado’s Championship Weekend Sleeper Standouts

Cronk has prototypical size for a linebacker at 6'2 200-pounds. He has good athletic ability due to very good acceleration, jumping, good lateral quickness, and speed. Cronk is a smart player and uses his very good read and reaction skills to put himself in position to make a play. He will try to strip or punch the ball out of the ball carrier's hands. Good get off speed and block shedding. Very good tackling. Good zone coverage with very good ball tracking skills and good body control. Cronk has very good range as well. He's a talented linebacker and showed it on the biggest stage.     Stroup was a major key in the successful run game in Pomona's win! The 6'5 250-tackle was dominant all game long. Stroup has very good strength with good knee bend, flexibility, and very good balance. Stroup maintains a low pad level and good initial quickness out of his stance. Good hand placement and very good hand strength. Good speed from his 1st to 2nd level blocks. Stroup has very good run blocking. He controls his opponent with ease and creates the lane for his star RB [player_tooltip player_id='1621218' first='Luis' last='Santana'] to run through. In pass protection, he has a good anchor and swats the DL's hands away to create extra time for his QB. Great overall job by the newest 3A champ!     Veasley Jr had a good night against Ralston Valley. The 5'10 160-pound corner held his own all night long with some talented receivers. He even had a pick 6 taken back by a holding call. Very good athletic ability due to very good acceleration, speed, jumping, and good change of direction. Smooth back pedal and fluid hips to match the receivers. Good coverage skills with very good closing quickness. He'll swat the ball away too. One thing about him, is he isn't afraid to tackle. Another thing that impressed me was how Veasley Jr stayed poised in the big moments. He's a great up and coming defensive back.     Spano continued being a lockdown corner in the championship game. The 5'10 170-pound corner had 8 total tackles (5 solo, 3 assisted). He has very good athletic ability due to very good speed, acceleration, change of direction, and jumping. Spano excels at jamming the wide receiver at the line of scrimmage. Very good man coverage with fluid hips to match the wide receiver as they break into their route. Very good closing quickness and timing his swats. Spano is another corner who prides himself on tackling. Spano had himself a great season, and capped it off with a championship win.     Jergenson measures in at 6'3 195-pounds and is used in a multitude of ways for Ralston Valley. He lines up as an off-ball and edge, and is also used as an extra blocker for their wildcat formations. Against Creek, he had 2 total tackles and 0.5 sack. He has very good acceleration, speed, and lateral quickness. Explosive burst off the edge with good initial quickness. Strong tackler with very good range. Good strength and a hard hitter with good zone coverage. Jergensen is also a very good blocker and creates extra time in the pocket or new lanes for his running back. Keep an eye out for him next year.
