Matt Tate | Prep Redzone Scout
Spano locks down whoever is in front of him. He measures in at 5’10 170-pounds and is a dominant corner. He had 38 total tackles (27 solo, 11 assisted), 9 pass deflections, with TFL. He has very good athletic ability due to very good speed, acceleration, change of direction, and jumping. Very good read and reaction skills. Spano excels at jamming receivers at the LOS and re-routing them. Smooth and controlled back pedal. Fluid torso to match WR breaking out of their stem. Very good man coverage and zone coverage. Spano is sticky in man coverage, not giving up room for any separation. Very good closing quickness and timing on pass break ups. Teams were hesitant to throw his way this past season due to his technique. Strong tackler as well. Don’t miss out on Spano.

Mind you, he’s doing this with a fractured wrist as well and hasn’t missed any playing time. He has 22 total tackles (16 solo, 6 assisted), 1 TFL, and 9 PD. Very good athletic ability due to very good speed, change of direction, acceleration, and jumping. Very good at jamming the receiver at the line of scrimmage. Very good back pedal. Very good in man coverage. He stays stride for stride with the receiver, or will use his very good closing quickness. Fluid hips. Very good at timing with swatting the ball down. Spano is also a corner that tackles and you can see he takes pride in it on film. Spano’s film thoroughly impressed me, and this junior is putting himself in conversation with the top defensive backs in Colorado.

A true lockdown cornerback, Spano has the ability to eliminate any receiver he’s matched up against. His speed allows him to open his hips and run stride for stride with receivers, excelling in trail technique and consistently breaking up passes. He possesses strong field vision, reading the QB’s eyes to anticipate plays and create turnovers when they test his side. Once he has the ball in his hands, he’s a dynamic threat, capable of flipping the field. Spano is also physical in press coverage, using his hands to effectively disrupt routes, and he’s not afraid to shed blocks and contribute in the run game. As a rising prospect, he’s a name to watch closely moving forward.
