Spano’s film thoroughly impressed me, and this junior is putting himself in conversation with the top defensive backs in Colorado.

Good read and reaction time. Uses his arms to swat the balls away. Spano has a good back pedal. He has a good jam at the line of scrimmage, and uses his physicality to get the upper hand. Very good closing quickness. Very good man coverage. He’s sticky like glue.  Good block shedding on WR to get the tackle on the RB. He has very good ball tracking skills, and good catching. He extends and plucks the ball out of the air.

His speed allows him to open his hips and run stride for stride with receivers, excelling in trail technique and consistently breaking up passes. He possesses strong field vision, reading the QB’s eyes to anticipate plays and create turnovers when they test his side. Once he has the ball in his hands, he’s a dynamic threat, capable of flipping the field. Spano is also physical in press coverage, using his hands to effectively disrupt routes, and he’s not afraid to shed blocks and contribute in the run game.
