The running backs came to play during Sunday's Showcase in Oak Creek. We had multiple members of the D1 State Champions backfield come out and verify their athletic abilities and showcase their talents 1 on 1 vs LBs. Joining Craig and Nettles is a strong stable of future college recruits. We saw some blazing 40s from several rising athletes, lightning quick agility tests, and some impressively natural hands catchers. This group had athletes that could be feature backs at the next level along with several who could shine as third down or change of pace backs. Our MVP of the group was Muskego's 2028 [player_tooltip player_id='2059295' first='Bryson' last='Hoeffler'] and you can read about his day in the MVP article on PRZ WI. There is so much to talk about with the rest of the group, so let's dive in.

Jebari quickly established himself as a kid to watch throughout the day on Sunday. The 5'8" 175 lbs RB checked in with a 5'11" wingspan, and 9" hands and put together a strong combine. The junior ran a pair of 4.81 40s, a 4.44 shuttle, and jumped 9'1" and 9'4" in the broad. Numbers that suggest an explosive RB, especially in short tight spaces.

That is exactly what Jebari demonstrated in 1 on 1s. The junior was so quick in the open field in ground game battles vs the LBs. He proved that he could get the corner or he could juke and accelerate, leaving the LB slapping at empty air. The 2027 is an exciting weapon in the backfield.

Jebari's teammate, [player_tooltip player_id='1627981' first='Devin' last='Nettles'], was another standout at the RB position. Devin is the bigger of the two backs, checking in at 5'10" 175 lbs with 10" hands and a 6'2" wingspan. Even as a little larger of a back, Devin still performed well in the combine. He his 4.87 in the 40, dominated the agility tests with a 4.37 and 4.25 shuttle time and 7.28 and 7.12 L-Drill times.

Devin has outstanding power in his lower body that shows itself in the form of that burst and acceleration out of change of direction. It wasn't just the combine that highlighted it. Devin can cut on a dime with the ball in his hands and also did well creating separation in 1 on 1 receiving reps vs LBs. The explosive RB is well on his way to maintaining that RB1 spot in the Class of 2028.

Freshman RB [player_tooltip player_id='1453164' first='Evan' last='Trudell'] caught my eyes over and over throughout his day in Oak Creek. He again wowed me when I received the testing results for the 2029 RB. The 5'10" 170 lbs RB ran a pair of 4.75 40s, and hit a 9' broad jump. Great numbers to build on over the next three years. I had high hopes for Evan after he finished with 541 yards and 5 TDs on varsity as a freshman.

Right now, Evan is at his best when he can be a one cut runner and get up field but we still saw some flashes of agility in those one on one run game reps and the natural athlete was able to make plays as a receiver. He came out of his break and could pull away or win vertically. Definitely keep an eye on the freshman.

In 2025 we got to see Demitrius return to his natural position of RB and score almost 20 TDs in 5 games. The senior is an explosive weapon and could be a steal for a program at this point. The 5'8" 155 lbs senior had a good day of testing going 4.78 in the 40 twice, 4.32 in the shuttle, and 7.25 in the shuttle. The senior is an undersized, change of pace back and his athletic profile fits the mold. He can make you miss in the open field, catches the ball, and has the speed to create big plays once he works his way to the open field with that elusive running style. Coaches, check out the senior.

The St. Thomas More sophomore RB put together one of the best days at RB. He had a fantastic check in coming in at 6'2" 200 lbs with an unreal 6'8.5" wingspan and 11" hands. Kendall had one of the best builds of the showcase. Even more impressive is what the sophomore did at that size. He ran a 4.78 40, 4.59 shuttle, and jumped 8'3" twice. For such a big kid Kendall is a very smooth athlete. That smooth style makes his athleticism deceiving. The 2028 RB just missed 1,000 yards in 2025 despite missing two games. He has the size, is piling up proven production, and the athleticism to be a legit RB recruit. Keep an eye on the development of Kendall.

Whether it has been on tape, at a live game, or at our Showcase, Jayce stands out every time he competes. Jayce has the build of a workhorse RB. 5'10" 190 lbs with a 6'.5" wingspan and 9.5" hands. He ran a pair of 4.84 40s, had an elite 4.19 shuttle, broad jumped 9' and 9'1", and hit 7.3 in the L-Drill. The stocky RB carries a ton of power in his lower body and it shows up on the field in the form of elusive cuts and explosive acceleration. He was able to make people miss all day and explode out of route breaks and catch the ball well. He is working his way into a three down back and was a key contributor on varsity as an underclassman. This is one to know and follow.

What a day for the Rufus King junior RB. DonTarius crushed the combine. He is a smaller back at 5'9" 150 lbs, but has 9.5" hands and a 6'1" wingspan. The junior crushed the 40 with a 4.63 and a 4.56. He also had a blazing 4.22 shuttle time. The explosive athlete is a weapon out of the backfield too. He has natural hands and overall ball skills. He was able to dominate against LBs with his route running. His speed shined in 1 v 1s run game too. He could get to open field and put stress on LBs to try and close quickly and when they would fly in at top speed DonTarius was able to make them miss and over pursue. The junior is a weapon to know.

Another standout freshman from the season at the RB position was [player_tooltip player_id='1594804' first='Zekodi' last='Allen']. He rode that momentum into the early offseason and balled out at the PRZ WI Showcase. The 5'8" 175 lbs freshman has a 6' wingspan and 9.5" hands. He ran a 4.85 40, 4.34 shuttle, and a 7.47 L-Drill. The freshman put together a great day on the field too. Showing explosive agility and elusive running. That thick frame is loaded with explosive power, especially for a freshman. His ability to beat LBs one on one throughout the day earned him a rep in the Best vs Best where he won on an out and up route and reeled in the deep pass. The 2029 is a versatile athlete that will be battling towards the top of his position throughout his career.

Cash is an interesting prospect. I could see him being recruited as either RB or potentially as an LB. He has a powerful, big frame at 6' 190 lbs with a 6'2" wingspan and 9" hands. He ran a 4.5 shuttle showing that he can move laterally with some explosive burst. A trait that helps kids excel at either position. On Sunday Cash did well to set up LBs with his one cut running, pressing towards one path, and then cutting back against the grain to make them miss. The Wausau East standout is definitely someone to get on camp and watch him work this offseason as he prepares for his junior season.

The freshman RB out of Waukesha South put together an exciting base of athleticism to build on over the coming years. The 5'8" 165 lbs athlete has a 5'9" wingspan and just under 9" hands. He ran a 4.81 40, a great number for a freshman. It was more during the 1 on 1 battles when the 2029 RB caught my attention. When we went live vs LBs Brad really broke out. He had some jukes that left LBs falling to the ground and had the coaches working with the position buzzing. Brad was tough to matchup with in space and once he got an angle he was able to turn it into a win. Great day for the freshman.

Another exciting freshman RB was Catholic Memorial's [player_tooltip player_id='1430564' first='Josiah' last='Bailey']. The 5'8" 145 lbs 2029 had a solid combine with a 4.89 40, 4.49 shuttle, 8'11" broad, and a 7.28 L-Drill. Those short area agility numbers are what had my attention throughout the day. The undersized RB fits the mold of a change of pace back. Someone you can get out in space and leave LBs in his dust. He was another kid that had the coaches buzzing with how he was making LBs miss 1 on 1. He is a weapon out of the backfield who doesn't take many touches to make big plays.

Hunter is coming off an elite freshman season for Lomira where he carved out a big role at RB. The 5'11" 175 lbs back is still building up that overall athleticism for the position, but with that said he still shined in spots of the combine with his 7.32 and 7.12 L-Drill. That body control, balance, and acceleration were key to his success with the ball in his hands too. Hunter can dominate between the tackles because he can burst through gaps before LBs can close on him. We saw that in action in 1 on 1s as he was able to beat LBs to spots. Hunter is building up steam early in his career.

The freshman RB hasn't fully peaked with his athleticism yet, and that is scary for defenders because on Sunday the freshman RB proved to be very hard to cover. Peyton caught my eyes over and over with his naturally soft hands as a receiver. The freshman was able to get open consistently and early in the route. On top of all the won reps, Peyton posted a 7.38 L-Drill and a 5.03 40. I'll be keeping an eye on the freshman RB.
