Now, as a reminder, only six classes will play their semifinal games this week. With every state championship game being played at UCO, to make that happen, half of the classes will play this week and the other half of the classes will play their semifinal games next week. Keep it locked in to Prep Redzone Oklahoma all week for in-depth looks at every semifinal contest. And we start today with Class 6A-1.

#1 BIXBY (11-0) VS #4 BROKEN ARROW (9-2)
Friday - 1:00PM - Catoosa H.S.

The first of two semifinals taking place at Catoosa will see #1 Bixby squaring off with #4 Broken Arrow. These two teams did not meet during the regular season but both teams have plenty of star power on both sides of the ball. For Bixby, they are and have been at the top of the mountain in Oklahoma for quite some time. The Spartans have been perfect on the season and with a win on Friday afternoon, they will punch their ticket to the state championship game for the 12th consecutive season. The Spartans have scored 50+ points in 9 of their 11 games this season. They show no signs of slowing down and come into this game as the massive favorite. Broken Arrow isn't going to back down from the challenge. After several losing seasons in a row, the Tigers begun a new era with head coach Travis Hill and with him taking over and several newcomers entering the fold, Broken Arrow was primed for not only a turnaround season but they expected to contend immediately. The only loss to an Oklahoma team this season was to Owasso early on in district play. Broken Arrow expects to be in the conversation among the state's best. This is their opportunity to do just that if they upset Bixby Friday.

BIXBY PLAYER TO WATCH

[player_tooltip player_id='284114' first='Carson' last='Kirby'] - Senior Quarterback

When you're talking about Bixby football this season, you could put the spotlight on any number of players. Senior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='284114' first='Carson' last='Kirby'] has been the leader of this offense for the last several seasons and he gets the nod here. Recently, Kirby went over 100 career passing touchdowns and he leads an offense that is one of the best in state history. There's no doubt that he has weapons around him but he is incredibly efficient with the football and has a complete grasp on running this high-powered Bixby offense. You would expect that from a three-year starter at the quarterback position. Kirby looks to shine again against a star-studded BA secondary.

BIXBY PLAYER UNDER THE RADAR

[player_tooltip player_id='1833637' first='Dawson' last='Madden'] - Senior Defensive Lineman

Again, when you're talking about any player for Bixby, it's hard to be considered "under the radar" on one of the best teams in the nation. However, senior defensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='1833637' first='Dawson' last='Madden'] has definitely enjoyed a breakout season this fall. He leads the team in sacks and tackles for loss this season. He's been an absolute menace coming off the edge and he plays the game with a motor that is hard to slow down. Last season, Bixby was incredibly young on the defensive side of the ball. Madden was one of those players that was just getting his feet wet in 2024. Now, Madden goes up against a very talented Broken Arrow offensive line and run game.

BROKEN ARROW PLAYER TO WATCH

[player_tooltip player_id='478124' first='Semaj' last='Stanford'] - Junior Wide Receiver/Defensive Back

Junior [player_tooltip player_id='478124' first='Semaj' last='Stanford'] has been considered one of the state's best players since his freshman season. Stanford was a standout at Jenks in 2023 and 2024. This offseason, he moved to Broken Arrow and has been their marquee player ever since. Stanford leads the team in receiving on offense and is one of the team's leaders in tackles on defense. Throw in the fact that he returns kicks and Broken Arrow has fully utilized Stanford's outstanding athletic ability. In a game where a spot in the state championship game is on the line, you need your best players to be playing at their best. If Stanford does that, the Tigers will have a shot at the upset.

BROKEN ARROW PLAYER UNDER THE RADAR

[player_tooltip player_id='1838604' first='Nate' last='Jackson'] - Senior Linebacker

We recently wrote about Broken Arrow senior linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='1838604' first='Nate' last='Jackson'] as he was a newcomer to our 2026 rankings and he debuted in a high spot. Similar to Stanford, Jackson made the move to join Broken Arrow this offseason. And just like Stanford, he's been an instant impact player for the Tigers on the defensive side of the ball. He's one of the team's leading tacklers and Broken Arrow's defense is going to be a huge key to the outcome of Friday afternoon's game. Finding a way to slow down this Bixby offense will help the Tigers get into a position to pull off the upset. If Jackson has a big game, they could find themselves in the fight in the fourth quarter.

#2 JENKS (10-1) VS #3 OWASSO (9-2)
Friday - 7:00PM - Catoosa H.S.

For the second straight year, Jenks and Owasso will square off in the semifinals and it will also be their second time playing this season. In last year's semifinal, Owasso prevailed in triple overtime. This year, Jenks, rallied in the second half to win. The Trojans have been playing lights out football all season under first year head coach Adam Gaylor. Their only loss came in the district opener against Bixby. Jenks is playing with a lot of confidence right now and one of the best offenses in the state. The defense came into this season very young but they've improved every single week and this team has become incredibly solid as an overall unit. On the other side of the match-up, you have Owasso and they've won nine straight games since that week one loss to Jenks. The Rams are right there with Jenks when it comes to offensive production. Like Jenks, Owasso has a running back that has an argument for being the best in the state. Both of these teams expected to be in this position at the start of the season. We can only hope that we see another instant classic on Friday night.

JENKS PLAYER TO WATCH

[player_tooltip player_id='402378' first='KD' last='Jones'] - Senior Running Back

Whenever you're talking about the player to watch for Jenks, all eyes go to senior star [player_tooltip player_id='402378' first='KD' last='Jones'] and it's easy to see why. Not only has Jones rewritten the record books at Jenks, but he has taken his game to completely new heights this season. It has been clear for a very long time that Jones was one of the top players in the state of Oklahoma. But this season, he has had the production to match the hype. And as we've said countless times when it comes to Jones as a playmaker, he feels equally as dangerous making plays out of the backfield as a pass catcher. Like we mentioned earlier, a spot in the state title game is on the line, the Trojans will put the ball in their star's hands.

JENKS PLAYER UNDER THE RADAR

[player_tooltip player_id='1699017' first='Rhett' last='Pangburn'] - Senior Defensive Lineman

Coming into this season, Jenks was relatively young on the defensive side of the ball. Senior defensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='1699017' first='Rhett' last='Pangburn'] was one of the lone returning players that saw significant time last season. Pangburn is committed to Air Force and has the ability to set the tone for the Trojans on the line of scrimmage. Out of the four players on this breakdown that are listed "under the radar", Pangburn might be the biggest stretch as he is committed to a D1 program. But the truth is the Jenks front seven is incredibly talented and also has become a very deep unit and they play like that. Pangburn will have a big role trying to slow down Owasso's rushing attack.

OWASSO PLAYER TO WATCH

[player_tooltip player_id='1549987' first='Jayden' last='Hall'] - Senior Running Back

In our opinion, senior running back [player_tooltip player_id='1549987' first='Jayden' last='Hall'] has been right there at the top of the list when it comes to the best running backs in Class 6A-1 and in the state in general. Now that Owasso has put the ball in his hands as a true workhorse back, he has put up monster numbers all season. Just like Jones, Hall has been one of the more reliable playmakers in the state. It doesn't matter who they are playing, Hall has found a way to produce in a major way. We've written about Hall and his evolution as a true star running back this season but his transformation has truly been one of the more fun ones to watch. Also, he ran in the game-winning score in the semifinals last year.

OWASSO PLAYER UNDER THE RADAR

[player_tooltip player_id='1414201' first='Chris' last='Zaferes'] - Senior Linebacker

Senior [player_tooltip player_id='1414201' first='Chris' last='Zaferes'] has been a breakout player for the Owasso defense. What makes him an under the radar player is the fact he was a running back during his sophomore and junior seasons. With Hall being capable of being that workhorse back, Zaferes was needed on defense and he has exceeded all preseason expectations. The Owasso senior is one of the team's leaders in tackles this season and he's also a relentless defender when it comes to getting into the backfield. He's racked up the sacks and tackles for loss and he has been a quarterback's worst nightmare. This Owasso front seven will be working their tails off to slow down Jones and the Trojans.
