Freshman Film Analysis: Five Rising 2029 Breakout Stars

Cooks had a breakout season for Downey this fall as a first year player and has a bright future with plenty of playing experience under his belt heading into the 2026 season. He is a long and explosive defender with natural ball skills and return abilities and is excellent in run support on the perimeter while not afraid to come up and bang in the box. He plays with patient eyes, fluid hips in transition and breaks quickly on the ball with recovery speed if beat over the top. Checking into our WL rankings for the 2029 class, he has a good shot to enter into our ranks sooner rather than later.     Holland is the next great up and coming edge rusher across the region and already has a strong build, stout frame and elite athletic abilities for his size with plenty of growth potential and a high upside as he moves through his prep career. He plays with heavy hands, natural bend around the corner and can collapse the pocket quickly while winning with power at the POA. He is a great open field tackler, changes direction well and is fluid in space while stout against the run and does a good job with gap integrity and taking on drives/doubles. He checks into our update as a top 25 overall player in the class and top 2 at his position.     Getting plenty of varsity playing experience in the vaunted trinity league, the Santa Margarita product is going to have a stellar career and should be hauling in offers sooner rather then later with the ideal frame and build already. He is a very athletic player with a strong punch at the first two levels, shows he can get out in space and block linebackers while sustaining blocks and finishing downfield and flashes good feet and overall movement abilities in space. In pass protection, he plays with tight hands, well timed punches and is stout against bull rushers and offers nice position versatility along the front line.     Ramos is another weapon for Palma that had a solid freshman campaign and should be a multi-year starter at the varsity level by the time his career comes to a close. He is a long and rangy player that can go up and win on contested balls, has strong hands at the POA and comes down with the ball in traffic while able to stretch the field vertically. Although he is still filling out his frame and has room to grow and develop physically over the course of his career, he should be a key name to note across the CCS in the 2029 class for years to come.     Hall checks into our updated rankings as a WL prospect and one of the top 2029 kids across the bay area region. He is a very explosive and dynamic athlete with the ball in his hands and can play on either side of the ball with plenty of room to grow and develop and it will be interesting to see where Moreau Catholic pieces him in next fall. Heading into his second season in 2026, he should have a breakout year and be one of the top '29 players across the region.
