Irvington (3-3) at Passaic Tech (3-3)

In what figures to be a game for seeding, Irvington travels up north to take on reigning sectional champion Passiac County Tech. In a meaningful game for both, PCTI, currently #6 in North V, is in unchartered territory and hopes to reclaim a position they are accustomed to - a top seed. Meanwhile, Irvington wants to prove they are for real after a tough, 1-point loss to West Orange and a recent defeat to #7 Livingston. Right now they are at #9 and a win will go a long way to securing a home game for the Blue Knights.

One Blue Knight has casted a spell upon the team based on the way he plays: sophomore quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1165645' first='Justin' last='Spellman']. Spellman has taken the overwhelming majority of snaps this season, going 78-158 for 1154 yards with 12 touchdowns and 4 interceptions, while adding 115 yards and 1 score on 22 carries when he runs the rock. Spellman's most productive receiver has been [player_tooltip player_id='1626609' first='Jazai' last='Reid']. Reid, a junior, is second on the team with 18 receptions but first in yardage (351) and touchdowns (3). Defensively, a pair of sophomore linemen are leading assault on opposing offenses. [player_tooltip player_id='1939957' first='Khayan' last='Brydie'] has a nose for the endzone from his defensive line position. Brydie has recovered 4 fumbles - 2 of which he has returned for a score. Along with this, he has made 31 tackles (22 solo), 8 tackles behind the line, and 1 sack. He joins [player_tooltip player_id='1939958' first='Malachi' last='Mills'] to make a formidable front for Irvington. Mills leads the team with 2 sacks and 11 tackles for loss, while making 33 tackles (20 solo) of his own with 1 forced fumble.

For PCTI to get back to familiar stature in the playoff bracket, look for [player_tooltip player_id='1556328' first='Kadir' last='Younge'] to continue to pace things on the ground. As their lead back, Younge has gone for 601 yards and 4 scores while running the ball 81 times. In roughly half the work, [player_tooltip player_id='1939961' first='Randy' last='Lewis'] figures to match the output of Younge if you projected his stats out, going for 45/332/4 on the ground. Defensively, the Bulldogs have two prospects that have been all over the field. Linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='1939962' first='Dante' last='Fasoli'] brings consistent pressure and pursuit to the backfield. Of his 47 tackles, 29 have been solo stops and 8 - a team-high - have been for a loss. Additionally, Fasoli also has a sack and returned his only pick for a score, representing PTCI's only defensive score on the season. Joining him at linebacker his [player_tooltip player_id='1552378' first='Michael' last='Moro']. Moro leas the team with a whopping 73 tackles (44 solo) with 1 forced fumble and 6 tackles for loss.

Vernon (4-2) at Mount Olive (5-0)

A win here would basically ensure North II's Vernon is no longer a bubble team, as the fight to climb from their current #14 seed. For Mount Olive, North IV's 5th seed looks for ways to continue to climb and ascend the bracket, starting with this home game against Vernon.

For Vernon, as great as [player_tooltip player_id='1907954' first='Nathaniel' last='Kimkowski'] is, he has help in a strong back [player_tooltip player_id='1939963' first='Thomas' last='Benson']. Benson is the feature tailback for Vernon, going 69 times for 424 yards with 1 touchdown.
When Mount Olive looked to drop back to pass, they ought to avoid [player_tooltip player_id='1939964' first='Andrew' last='Geisen']. Geisen, a junior, leads the team in interceptions with 2, while putting that same number of tackles for loss up, along with 19 tackles.

For Mount Olive, I am not sure [player_tooltip player_id='1894104' first='Brayden' last='Longo'] gets off the field. Longo is their leading rusher, slashing 80/647/11 on the ground, but has done much more. Longo has 8 receptions for 79 yards, 18 tackles, 1 tackle for loss, a pick-six, and serves as their primary returner, taking 2 punts back for scores. [player_tooltip player_id='1939965' first='Jared' last='Martini'] provides rushing lanes and a strong lineman to support Longo's efforts. Martini leas the team in sacks (2.5) and tackles for loss (8), while sitting second on the team with 44 tackles (11 solo).

Hoboken (6-0) at Newark Central (4-2)

I do not think that anybody saw Hoboken being 6-0 at this point. A program slept on in the past, they are experiencing a renaissance, currently sitting as North II's 6th seed. Meanwhile, Newark Central is North IV's 12th seed and hungry to host a playoff home game.

In order to make a run up the standings, Newark Central ought to continue to run [player_tooltip player_id='1552691' first='Ryan' last='Desauguste']. Desauguste, a sophomore, leads the way on the ground with 64 carries for 570 yards and 6 touchdowns. Also playing a role at linebacker on defense, he has found himself taking the ball carrier down 16 times and forcing the ball out once. Defensively look for [player_tooltip player_id='1939966' first='Mamoudou' last='Kamara'], a senior lineman, to pave the way for Desauguste. Kamara, also a defender leads Central with 5 sack while also making 7 tackles for loss and 33 tackles. Central's two most active defenders, however, are [player_tooltip player_id='1880374' first='Ahmad' last='Williams'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1921828' first='Symeir' last='Sorey']. Sorey, the youngest of the pair, amongst his 63 tackles (42 solo), has made 10 tackles for loss, recovered a fumble, and recorded 3 sack. Additionally, his 3 forced fumbles best the team. For Williams, now a junior, he has been tenacious and unrelenting on his way to 87 tackles (48 solo). While he does have 2 sacks and 1 forced fumble, his 16 tackles for loss are the best on the team.

For Hoboken, a trio of offensive talents have propelled them to being one of the most talked about teams in the state. Starting with quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1939969' first='Isaiah' last='Blanks'] is having an epic senior season. Blanks has thrown 11 touchdown to 5 interceptions and for 968 yards on 64-110 passing. Also a threat to run the rock, he has slashed 37/235/8 on the ground. As would many Group II schools, their best players must play both ways. That said, Blanks finds himself squarely in the mix as a key defender, Blanks has made 20 tackles (6 solo), while setting the team standard with 3 sacks and 7 tackles for loss. Additionally, he has intercepted 2 passes. When running the rock, [player_tooltip player_id='1939970' first='Devin' last='McMillan'] is part two of the rushing tandem. Hoboken's feature back has rushed 81 times for 620 yard and scored 6 times. Additionally, he has gone 5/30/1 when targeted and is still arguably one of Hoboken's fiercest defenders. On the year, McMillan leads his squad in tackles, 48 (13 solo) and forced fumbles (2), collecting 7 tackles for loss in the process. Lastly, 2027 graduate [player_tooltip player_id='1939971' first='Jae'on' last='Walker'] is having a breakthrough season at receiver. Walker headlines their passing attack, hauling in 27 catches for an even 500 yards and 7 scores. Although he may not find the ball carrier much on defense (7 tackles, 2 solo, 1 for a loss), Walker leads the way with his 3 interceptions on defense.

Wayne Valley (5-1) at Ramapo (4-1)

Two of North IV's top teams face off in a heavyweight matchup this Friday as Wayne Valley travels to Ramapo. Both with one loss on their records to extremely worthy opponents (Northern Highlands and Old Tappan, respectively), a win will jettison Ramapo who-knows-how-high from their current #7 seed, while Wayne Valley pushes on to earn a top 2 seed, as they are currently in the #3 position.

For Wayne Valley, senior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1515098' first='Danny' last='Ferrauilo'] is having an efficient season. Without a carry to his name, he finds himself going 96-124 with 1346 yards, 13 touchdowns, and just 3 interceptions. His two favorite target are a pair of talented receivers in [player_tooltip player_id='1907949' first='Jadon' last='Cabrales'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1540910' first='Bryce' last='Flower']. Flower, a fellow 2026 graduate, is the explosive, big-play threat, as turned 26 receptions to 458 yards with 6 scores. For Cabrales, he is has amassed 430 yards and 4 scores on his team-high 35 receptions. Flower continues his explosive nature on defense, returning a fumble for a score, intercepting a pass, and also blocking a kick. I would feel back if I did not mention leading rusher [player_tooltip player_id='1540920' first='Elizer' last='Estevez']. Having taken all but 40 of his team's rushing attempts, Estevez has gone for 679 yards and 8 scores on 105 carries.

For Ramapo, they seem to get a lot of milage out of their backfield. senior [player_tooltip player_id='1557909' first='Liam' last='Hayward'] is their leading rusher in all categories, going for 412 yards and 8 scores on 64 attempts - all which lead the team. [player_tooltip player_id='1546513' first='Casey' last='Grusser'], their quarterback, has also come up big with 5 scores and 212 yards on 29 attempts - all the while completing an efficient 75% of his pass attempts. Meanwhile, [player_tooltip player_id='1939973' first='Gino' last='Gorga'] is the final piece of Ramapo's potent running game. Serving as a valuable complementary piece, Gorga has slashed 45/212/2 on the ground. Defensively, expect linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='1939974' first='Jack' last='Schneider'] to impact the game in both run and pass defense. Schneider has been Mister Do-It-All this year, leading the way with 28 tackles (10 solo), 5 tackles for loss, and 2 interceptions. Additionally, the only fumble he recovered - you guessed it - went back for a score.
