Funny story about Luke Wafle Luke Wafle 6'6" | 245 lbs | DL The Hun School | 2026 State NJ . One day I was speaking with Prep Network’s Editor in Chief and he mentioned that someone reached out to say “how do you not have Luke Wafle Luke Wafle 6'6" | 245 lbs | DL The Hun School | 2026 State NJ ranked?” I explained that we are aware of him and he was idling in the watch list awaiting our next rankings update.
Well, the wait is over. Wafle totally shot up the rankings to claim the #2 spot in the state. There is much to like on film about Wafle that makes him a national recruit. First, he possesses a tremendous get off walks opponents backwards due to the tremendous power he is able to generate. His power-generating get off has no impact, however, on his ability to make quick movements. Impressively, you see Wafle’s body begin to have the out-and-up arch to it, meaning that his hips are engaged coming out of his stance. The deadly combination of hand fighting and closing speed makes him a very difficult to limit when pass rushing. When Wafle does not get to the quarterback for a sack, he is extremely disruptive, impacting and rushing throws in a negative way. Similarly, Wafle takes excellent angles of pursuit and does not seem to blow contain. As a tackler, we see him totally drive his body through the man as well. As a run stopper, Wafle is fast enough to beat kickout blockers to the point of attack, getting around them, and blows up plays. Lastly, we see him work to refit hands and win leverage that way. There are truly very few holes in Wafle’s game and he has a very good shot to start as a true freshman at a big-time program.

Arguably the best all around prospect coming out of the NJ 2025 class, Luke Wafle Luke Wafle 6'6" | 245 lbs | DL The Hun School | 2026 State NJ is a building himself quite the reputation early in his career. Already receiving offers from Georgia, Texas, Notre Dame and Michigan, I truly believe Luke has the capabilities and qualities to develop into the next TJ Watt. A speedster off of the edge that can also use brute force to bring down his target, Luke is able to stay low to the ground as he rounds the edge and collapses the pocket. A edge rusher that can be in the backfield before the QB even sets his feet, Luke is another one of those monsters coming out of the Hun School.

I tend to get giddy when scouting impact sophomores – especially when they are 6’4″ 220lbs, fast, and highly disruptive. Enter Luke Wafle Luke Wafle 6'6" | 245 lbs | DL The Hun School | 2026 State NJ of the Middletown South Eagles. During his varsity debut campaign, the basketball player made 57 tackles, 14.5 TFL, 7 sacks, and 1 FF.
Wafle is a really interesting prospect in how he plays the game. Starting with his tackle, Wafle goes in low looking to wrap, drive, and dump. In other words, he is looking to lay the wood and make big hits. He possesses great speed for his size, which he likes to utilize when pass rushing. It manifests itself as an inside-out, shimmy rush. Perhaps he adapted that move from his basketball euro-step? His speed turns into power when rushing bigger linemen, getting under their pads and walking them backwards. Wafle also gets hands on the man in front of him, disrupting the release of TEs or down blocking lineman alike. He handles double teams well, managing to rip off to make stops. So young, Wafle will evolve into a pass rushing menace as he works his hands and activates his hips more. College coaches would love to see a few more clips of him in pass coverage, should he wish to play LB at the next level.
I hate to sound like I am gushing about this prospect, but hey, maybe I am. There is a lot to like at Middletown South. With Wafle returning for two more years and on the heels of a 9-2 season (with one loss being to a parochial power), both the Eagles and Wafle have tremendous upside entering 2023.
