Power Scores: X Factors, Langston Hughes

Langston Hughes is consistently one of the top programs in Georgia, and this fall is no different. They are handling business on the back of these guys, plus several more.    Kelly is back where his career started at Langston Hughes and is putting the cherry on top of his productive HS career. Kelly is a toolsy QB prospect with an intriguing blend of size, athleticism, and arm talent. He has an elastic arm with natural and easy life on the ball. He is a long strider as a runner, which will help him lift off and away when given a lane to run. Kelly is committed to Colorado State and has the tools to contribute at that level.     Wiggins, one of our top-ranked RB prospects in Georgia, plays a role in likely the best two-headed monster at RB in the state. Wiggins is on the thinner side of 185 and has room to pack more weight onto his frame. His acceleration is elite, quickly finding his top gear and exploding through openings to set up long runs. His film does the talking. He plays with a calm demeanor, and when he hits the hole, he gets up to speed in a hurry and is a touchdown threat from any spot on the field. Just an all-around really impressive player.     Baker, a Florida commit, is an athletic outlier at the RB position and plays one part of a two-headed monster at RB for Langston Hughes. Baker is well covered here at Prep Redzone and nationally. Here is what PRZ Scout Lawrence Morgan said on Baker this past offseason:   "Kelly has a dude to hand the ball to in 6'2 200 [player_tooltip player_id='908951' first='Carsyn' last='Baker']<a href="https://prepredzone.com/player/carsyn-baker-2/"></a> ('26) who has put up a 10.63 100m at his size. Baker rushed for over 1000 yards in '24 and will be a highly sought after RB this cycle. "     Here is a write-up on Jamarion McKinney, who has emerged from an underrated WR prospect to a premier option in the 2026 class.   "Jamarion McKinney is coming off a breakout fall and has added a few FBS offers to his name. He comes in at 6'1 180 with a cut, well-built frame, giving the illusion that he's bigger than he actually is. He is a patient route runner with outstanding spatial awareness. He is a long strider who effortlessly glides across the field, even if elite speed might not be present. He can go up and get it on the outside and can make grabs while in awkward spots. He is a true inside-out threat who is reliable at different levels of the field. Tremendous body control and good pacing and feel for his routes are the intrigue of his game, on top of his frame."     Williams is a smaller, featherweight CB prospect who has produced as a tackler and against the ball. He is versatile as a DB, mostly playing CB and equipped with the speed to stay in stride down the field and remain in position to play the ball. As a tackler, he has good awareness, attacking the trunk of ball carriers and upending them. He is still young and has time to get bigger and add play strength, which will make him an even more intriguing prospect.     Byrd committed to Tulsa prior to his senior season and is bringing prototype CB size and length to that level. His length helps him disrupt timing at the line, throughout the route, and play the ball down the field. He casts a wide net as a tackler as well. The traits are good enough to bank on, which is what is lifting him to the FBS level. He is definitely a player Tulsa has to be excited about.     Jones is a shorter, but broad-shouldered DL prospect for Langston Hughes and one of the leaders up front. Jones is strong, fights hard against contact, and is a good finisher as a tackler. He is active, making plays both around the line of scrimmage and in space. Jones compensates the way shorter DL prospects need to, by battling at the point of attack and pursuing.     Brown Braxton is an underrated EDGE defender for Langston Hughes and one of the more productive defenders on his squad. For hovering around 6'1/6'2, he is long, lanky, and has room to grow. He is a fluid athlete who can work both shoulders of blockers. He is active as well, getting his paws up to bat down passes and rallying hard after the football. Brown-Braxton is a senior sleeper worthy of at least small school buzz.     Baker is one of my favorite players on this Langston Hughes squad and appears to be one of the more shockingly underrated seniors in Georgia. The size speaks for itself at 6'5 340. For being so big, he is shockingly bouncy as an athlete and quickly closes in on second-level defenders. His play strength is elite, crumbling defenders. His motor runs hot as well, violently sticking on blocks and finishing them through the dirt. Again, I am shocked Baker has been so underrecruited up to this point, because he looks like a clear FBS OL prospect.     [player_tooltip player_id='531964' first='Kelsey' last='Adams'] is currently ranked as our top 2027 OL prospect in Georgia. He moved to Langston Hughes this offseason. Here is what PRZ Scout Matt DeBary said around the time he made that move:   "One of the very best overall prospects in Georgia for the 2027 class, Adams is a dominant offensive tackle on the left side who consistently delivered pancakes all season long as a sophomore last fall. He's a promising pass protector due to his length, footwork, and pure strength, but he proved to be an absolute mauler in the run game as well. He brings a lean 6-foot-5 285-pound frame and moves like he's 20 pounds lighter. His potential is easy to see and he added a new SEC offer this week from the Florida Gators."
