Prep Redzone has released a new Power Ranking system in '25. It is a computer based algorithm that looks at 5 different factors to produce a teams score. So far the formula seems to work fairly well through the halfway point of the season. I take a look at this weeks Top 10 in Class 7A and how it compares to my own personal Top 10.

Discussion

Buford and Grayson: I have Buford and Grayson flipped at 1 and 2 but you could easily argue the defending Champ Rams are deserving of the Number 1 spot. 2027 QB Deuce Smith has been outstanding stepping in at QB1. Last week he threw 5 TDs and passed for 300+ in their win over #21 Newton.

Overrated ?

Harrison Hoyas: The computer has the Hoyas at #4 compared to #15 in my personal rankings. They had a great 1st half of the season going 5-0 but dropped from the unbeatens after a 48-21 loss to McEachern last week. Harrison is no doubt a team to watch come post season with a balanced offense behind 2028 breakout QB [player_tooltip player_id='1697962' first='Aiden' last='Watson'] who has passed for over 1400 yards with only 1 INT. They have a huge game with Hillgrove on 10/24 that could determine who gets a home playoff game Rd 1.

Camden County: Redzone has the Wildcats at #6 they fall in at #18 in my personal 7A rankings. Camden is 5-2 on the season but have dropped 2 games in a row in Region play, including a 63-19 loss to #9 Valdosta. 2027 QB [player_tooltip player_id='1144254' first='William' last='Jackson'] has led the way, passing for over 1200 yards with 19 total TDs. The road gets no easier as they face #7 Lowndes and #12 Colquitt County, desperately needing a win to clinch a playoff spot.

Underrated?

Douglas County: The computer has the Tigers at #15 and I have them at #6, which may still be underrated. Both of their losses have come in tight contests verse #2 Buford and Class 5A's #1 Langston Hughes. Douglas Co has a great balanced offense behind duel threat 2026 QB Mike Johnson who has 1400 total yards in '25. The Senior backfield combo of [player_tooltip player_id='1201792' first='Zamarcus' last='Lindley'] and Rahkeith Kelly have combined for 800+ yards with 11 TDs and one of top 2026 WR prospects, [player_tooltip player_id='283774' first='Aaron' last='Gregory'], is on pace for a 1000-yd season. I would not be shocked if the Tigers made the trip to the Benz in December.

Colquitt County: Not much difference here, the computer has the Packers at #12 and I have them at #9. A couple of signature wins this season over Benedictine and a thrilling 18-17 win over #9 Valdosta last week. They will be without 4-Star RB [player_tooltip player_id='1577553' first='Jae' last='Lamar'] who stepped away from football this past week. The Packers will still be tough to contend with come the post season.

Hillgrove: I personally have Hillgrove at #10 and the computer has them at #8, possibly underrated on both our parts. The Hawks have been phenomenal on both sides of the ball. They average over 40 ppg on offense while only allowing 13 total points through 6 games, including 3 straight shutouts. They have had a ton of guys contribute on the defensive side of the ball with Seniors [player_tooltip player_id='1187600' first='Chris' last='Carbin'], Jameson McCullough, and Demetrius Heywood all raking up double digit TFLs. October is interesting as they have showdowns coming up with #3 McEachern and #4 Harrison.
