We're at the midway point of the season in the blink of an eye, and we'll be highlighting prospects who have produced midseason highlight tapes. Colleges will evaluate prospect film from the midpoint of the season to assess their progress this season, as they update their recruiting boards. Here are some DB prospects to check out with midseason highlight tapes that we didn't cover from the First 3/4 games spotlight series!

An under-the-radar prospect for colleges to check out at the halfway point of the season is 2026 Spring Valley WR/DB [player_tooltip player_id='1689135' first='Dae' last='Dae Page']. He has next-level potential as a player and could play on either side of the ball in college. We like Page as a safety prospect with a large 6'2 frame that can continue to be filled out in the future. He's a selfless player on offense in their Wing-T scheme as primarily a blocker, where he uses his size well to free up outside lanes. If Page can more on tape on defense in the second half of the season, he has the potential to earn D2 interest on upside alone.

2026 DB [player_tooltip player_id='1554742' first='Elijah' last='Woods'] has moved over to St. Albans for his senior year and is another under-the-radar senior defensive back to check out at the midseason point. He's someone that D3 and NAIA programs should be adding to their prospect boards this fall, as Woods can be molded into a future contributor at those levels. He has good length and can add significant size to his 6'1 frame in a college strength program. Woods also has quality athleticism that will aid his development at the next level and could become a future college starter.

2027 Washington RB/DB [player_tooltip player_id='1161083' first='Phillip' last='Shields'] stayed loyal to the Patriots after significant roster turnover in the off-season and has been rewarded with becoming one of their feature players on both sides of the ball this season. Shields has emerged as a talented ball carrier on offense, where he's rushed for over 400 yards and 3 touchdowns in five games this season. The emergence has opened our eyes to just how athletic he is, in addition to his DB ability that he showcased as a sophomore. We still project Shields as a defensive back at the next level, where he has a high ceiling, but his offensive playmaking ability this season should be highlighted as well.

One of the better cover corners in the 2027 class, in our eyes, is Nitro's [player_tooltip player_id='1316655' first='David' last='Hill']. He's continued to prove that in the first half of his junior season for the Wildcats as a lockdown defender. You can trust leaving Hill on an island in press man coverage and be confident that he can shut down one side of the field. He plays with good technique and is a smart football player who knows how to execute his assignments. Hill may be the best 1-on-1 cover corner prospect in the 2027 class with what he's putting on tape.

You can plug 2027 Buffalo ATH [player_tooltip player_id='1617192' first='Grant' last='Webb'] into several different positions on both sides of the ball, but he's doing a nice job as a defensive back this season, too. Webb is a quick, rangy athlete who can cover ground quickly in coverage and in pursuit of the ball. Even as a smaller athlete, he's a willing run stopper and will find the ball between the tackles as well. Webb also does a nice job of tackling in space and shows high effort in tracking down ball carriers, even if they're on the opposite side of the field.

2028 Martinsburg defensive back [player_tooltip player_id='1624448' first='Kolby' last='Walker'] has carved out a varsity role for the Bulldogs as a sophomore and has a promising future as a player and prospect ahead of him. He'll likely see his name shoot up the rankings after the season with the step he's taken from his freshman season. Walker is a rangy safety who can patrol the back end of their defenses and cover ground quickly. He has very good pursuit and tracking speed and can also walk up to the line of scrimmage to rush off the end. As Walker develops physically, he could be a name that D1 programs show interest in down the road.
