Midseason DB Stock Risers in Vegas

<p><em>Breaking down the film for some of Las Vegas' defensive backs raising their stock this season.</em></p>    <p class="text-gray-700">Dobbs ranks second in the state with 8 INTs and leads the Foothill defense in tackles with 83 total (54 solo) so far in his breakout senior season. The 6'2"/180 senior safety has been one of the biggest defensive stock risers in Nevada this season with his production on the ball and overall playmaking ability he's put on film through nine games. He's a lengthy, fluid athlete that can read/play QB eyes as a zone defender, anticipates throws and route concepts to put himself in position to make plays, and offers great range as a two-deep safety. The 6'1"/165 cornerback just picked up an offer from Western Michigan this month after showing major upside in his athletic talent and DB skillset to this point of the season. He's a fast, fluid mover with a long, lankier frame. He accelerates and comes out of his breaks with explosive burst, shows his reach disrupting receivers in press coverage, and possesses many of the natural tools of a future cover-corner at the D-I level. The 5'10"/155 junior has shown a playmaking blend of physicality as a tackler and coverage skillset with 30+ tackles, 2 INTs, and 5 PBUs this season. He's a versatile defender that's shown ability to align as a second-level defender around the box as well as some perimeter CB. He's aggressive to the ball, plays sticky in coverage on the outside, and can make tackles around the LOS at a high rate for a defensive back. The 6'/170 junior transfer from Utah has racked up 40 total tackles (22 solo) in eight games this season. He's a physical safety that delivers strong hits in space and consistently makes plays around the LOS. He shows solid range and versatility aligning in the box and as a deep safety and looks like a potential hybrid SS at the next level with the combination of physicality and athleticism he plays with. He's an instinctive defensive back that offers strong upside in his athleticism and ball skills with proven turnover production on the ball. He possesses the speed and agility to stay in-phase with wideouts, shows some versatility playing safety and boundary CB, and tracks the ball extremely well. He's fluid in coverage, packs useful length in his 6'2"/165 frame, and plays physical at the LOS in press coverage. Mitchell is one of the biggest midseason risers among Las Vegas' DBs with the senior season he's putting together.</p>      <p class="text-gray-700">Olivas has broken out as Spring Valley's leading tackler from his FS spot with 65 total and 1 INT on the season. He's an aggressive, high-motor tackler that outplays his smaller stature at 5'8"/145 and plays more physical than typical players of his size. He's quick to react downhill, close ground, and make sure-tackles around the LOS. He's a twitchy, agile athlete that can change directions in a hurry, shows no hesitation getting into his run fits, and attacks low to bring down much bigger ball-carriers.
