E73 The Jackpot 5 v 5 - HS Division Nevada Top Performers

This past weekend, Desert Pines High School played host to the E73 “The Jackpot” 5v5 and linemen showcase, drawing top talent from across the West Coast. The trenches took center stage, as some of the most physical and technically advanced young prospects competed at a high level. The 14u division, in particular, featured a strong group of Las Vegas Valley athletes who more than held their own against outside competition. With a mix of size, explosiveness, and developing technique, these players gave an early glimpse at the future of Nevada football. Several standouts separated themselves with dominant performances, proving they are names to watch moving forward. Elijah “Snoop” Newcomb, a 6'2”, 280-pound defensive lineman in the class of 2028, earned MVP honors with a commanding showing throughout the event. He dominated in the trenches with his sheer strength and ability to control opponents at the point of attack. Newcomb's power translated on both sides of the ball, where he consistently moved defenders and created opportunities. His physicality and hand strength made it difficult for opposing linemen to match up with him. With his size and production, he proved to be one of the most impactful players in the showcase. RJ Brown, a 6-foot, 305-pound defensive lineman from Mater East Academy in the class of 2028, stood out with his combination of size and athleticism. He showed surprising quickness off the snap, allowing him to gain early control against opposing linemen. Brown paired his strength with good bend, enabling him to maintain leverage and disrupt plays in tight spaces. His instincts were evident as he reacted quickly and positioned himself well throughout drills. With his physical tools and awareness, he projects as a strong interior presence with plenty of upside. He consistently fired off the ball with great explosion, putting immediate pressure on opposing linemen. His combination of strength and bend allowed him to win leverage battles and stay effective through contact. Pulefaasisina also played with noticeable aggression, attacking each rep with intensity and purpose. His performance highlighted a high-motor defender with tools to continue developing into a force in the trenches. [player_tooltip player_id='2111009' first='Pai'ea' last='Cosier'], a 5'10”, 185-pound edge rusher from Bishop Gorman in the class of 2030, delivered one of the most impressive performances of the event. Despite still being in eighth grade, he consistently dominated against older high school competition with his explosive first step and relentless motor. His combination of elite strength and natural bend allowed him to win around the edge while maintaining balance through contact. Cosier showed advanced pass-rush ability for his age, using leverage and power to overwhelm blockers. His performance firmly established him as one of the most advanced young edge prospects in attendance.
