This week, I've decided to make the trip to West Michigan to watch Grand Rapids Northview vs. Grand Rapids Catholic Central. Yes, there are many "bigger" games in my area, but honestly, I've wanted to watch these teams in person all season. A phenomenal QB matchup, and several up-and-coming prospects.

Northview started out hot, with excellent wins against West Catholic and Vicksburg. Though they experienced a midseason skid with two straight 1-possession losses to East Grand Rapids and Thornapple Kellogg. I'm extremely interested in seeing how they handle a well-coached GR Catholic Central team.

Honestly, the QBs are the main reason why I'm taking the trip to GR Northview. I'm extremely excited to get an in-person evaluation of Braylon, as he's solidified himself as a top 10 QB in this class. No better time to get a look at Braylon than now, as GR Catholic Central has a phenomenal all-around defense.

You can always count on GR Catholic Central to have a well-coached O-Line and a great run game. That's why it's so important for [player_tooltip player_id='1284973' first='Carson' last='Ginn'] to have a standout game. I've evaluated Carson a few times over the years, and I've always appreciated his efforts in the weight room. Super strong defensive lineman, with amazing upside against the run. I'm surprised he hasn't gotten more college attention.

I'm looking forward to getting an in-person look at Beau! One of the most promising underclassman prospects in the Grand Rapids area a few years ago, but was sidelined for quite a while after a knee injury. Now with GR Northview, Beau has released some promising tape, primarily at safety. I also know he's capable of playing DB/RB/WR. Very interested in seeing how Beau is utilized.

Catholic Central (7-0)

Grand Rapids Catholic Central is back to being a heavy state championship favorite. They've been dominant this season, with a +160 point differential, and wins against teams like St. Thomas More (CN), Lumen Christi, and East Grand Rapids. They've pitched two shutouts and haven't given up more than 14 points in a single game this season. Though Northview is a team that already has a few excellent wins under its belt. This could be GRCC's biggest test of the regular season.

QB | [player_tooltip player_id='1450313' first='Odin' last='Spencer']

I've seen steady improvement from Odin on tape, really ever since Week 1 of last season. This offseason seemed like a significant jump for Odin, and I'm looking forward to seeing that jump in person. GR Catholic Central is 7-0, and on paper, they're a much better team than last year. A lot of that probably has to do with Odin taking that jump. Looking for Odin to be more comfortable in the pocket, generally better accuracy, and better off-schedule.

One of many young players I want to get a close look at. [player_tooltip player_id='1689131' first='Grayson' last='Tidd'] has a chance to solidify himself as a Division 1 prospect in my eyes, as he's facing a high-volume passing offense. I should be able to get a great look at Grayson's overall athletic profile. How is his backpetal? How fluid are his hips? How well does he change direction? (Etc).

Up-and-comers

Grand Rapids Catholic Central is as good as any when it comes to reloading talent on a yearly basis. A less-than-normal amount of information on Hudl, which means I honestly don't have a great grasp of this team. I know I'll probably find several non-senior prospects to add to my prospect spreadsheets. This is a must-watch in-person evaluation for me.
