We just updated our 2028 rankings, and we'll have plenty of coverage this week of stock-risers, new additions, and the players that tell the story of the update. We've already gone behind the scenes of the rankings update. Here, we're hitting the running backs, covering every player who either rose or was added to the rankings. We started with our 2028 QB Report, then hit the RB New Additions and Stock-Risers. Here, we're looking at all the new 2028 wide receivers in the rankings.

We added seven new wide receivers to the rankings. These guys have had great sophomore seasons, most of them in their first extended varsity action.

You'd find it difficult to find a receiver who does more in fewer opportunities than Rodriguez, who has over 350 yards and four touchdowns on just 10 catches for Starmount's run-heavy offense. He's impressive defensively as well, with great ball skills and a huge impact on that side of the ball. Add to that kick return and punting/kicking duties, and you've got an impressive all-around player.

We originally added Parson to the back end of the rankings early in the season and kept moving him up our internal board. As he stands now, he's fourth in the state in receiving, and he's been a walking explosive play. In fact, he has a 40+ yard catch in every game this season, as he's on pace to pass 1,000 yards as a sophomore.

Any time you hear about Hoggard's offense having a big game, Hunter is often in the middle of it. He's not the biggest guy, but he has great hands and is a reliable target, especially on third down. He's a guy who should continue to develop, and as he gets bigger, he's going to grow as a threat after the catch and in the red zone as well.

Grena's impact is far bigger than his box score stats indicate. A relentless blocker, Grena frequently springs his running backs and fellow receivers on screens and outside runs. He has great ball skills down the field, as well, and has been a huge threat in the red zone with four touchdowns on 10 catches.

Thompson has done most of his damage on the defensive side of the ball, but we see him as a future receiver, a guy with suddenness and ball skills, which he's displayed as a defensive back as a sophomore. He's a guy who intrigues us, and as he adjusts to the varsity level, he's one to keep an eye on.

Beasley is one of the more versatile playmakers in the state. He's a future slot receiver, but he works both inside and outside for Swansboro. He's often been used as a runner near the goal line, on kickoff returns, and has a huge route tree. He's far more comfortable than most players on throws near the sideline and knows how to find space against zone.

One of the top kick/punt returners in the state, Warren's movement skills, specifically his change of direction, are impressive. He's patient, almost like a running back, not just as a returner, but after the catch as well, and he'll often wait for a hole to open before accelerating towards the open field.
