Offensive Eruptions of Week 5

We are seeing athletes across WI hitting their stride on offense. Week 5 proved that as we saw multiple school records be broken by passers and ball carriers. We saw insane efficiency. We saw kids that were essentially walking highlight reels. It was a fantastic showing of what this state has to offer in terms of uncommitted senior talent, and up and coming junior/sophomore talent. We talk about it all in this week's roundup of offensive eruptions from Week 5. Check it out!    Stats: 17/24, 317 Pass Yards, 3 TDs   What a performance from the standout junior QB out of Kewaskum. Eli is one of the kids in this state that you can guarantee is always working on his game. He puts in a ton of time during the offseason, and we are seeing it pay off before our eyes. All three TDs passes from the junior highlighted his arm strength. The ball jumps out of his hand. Even on the first one when he has pressure closing quickly in his face. It looks so easy and natural for him to be able to not only uncork the deep ball but also drop it right in stride so his receivers can finish plays to the endzone without breaking stride. Great week from the 2027 QB.      Stats: 13/20, 239 Yards, 6 Pass TDs, 13 Rush Yards, 1 TD   We just talked about Carter recently, but when you set your school record with 7 TDs in one game were are going to be watching that film! That is what Carter did, and coming from CG-B where they have had a strong stable of highly productive passers seeing this record get set is more than noteworthy. The senior carved up the defense and built a highlight reel that showed off his well rounded skill set. Delivering dimes on the run, connecting with guys in rhythm, scanning the field and going through reads. All of it shows up and is successful in his Week 5 tape. It is also very noticeable how easy it is for him to buy time with his legs and quickly reset to get the ball out. Carter also shows off the arm that he has multiple times driving it deep downfield 30+ yards to open targets. Dive into the tape and learn more about the under the radar QB.      Stats: 6 Receptions, 160 Yards, 4 TDs   Ethan is another senior that we have recently covered, but he is back for another mention because he too set a school record with 4 receiving TDs for Northwestern. Watching the highlights from the week is a fun experience! The senior is a cheat code at WR. His speed opens up everything short-intermediate because teams give him a large cushion. Unfortunately for defenses, when you give this kid an inch he can make you miss or beat your angles and create the massive plays he did in Week 5. Ethan is a gifted playmaker. Speed, hands, elusive in space, and a kid that can run through DB contact and tackle attempts with ease. College programs need to check out this kid.      Stats: 13 Carries, 163 Yards, 4 Receptions, 164 Yards   What an insane stat line from the senior athlete out of Indian Trail. Cade torched the defense at WR, RB, and taking direct snaps in the backfield. The instincts and versatility the senior offers is special. Week 5 shows it off so well. Cade's feel for the game with the ball in his hands is a joy to watch. He is decisive, has powerful cuts and acceraltion out of those cuts. The speed flashed over and over as he shot through small alleys and into open grass for huge plays. Cade also proved to be just as dangerous as a receiving threat as he was toting the rock out of the backfield. This was a breakout performance for the senior and it needs to get eyes on him and his tape. Start with the Week 5 film linked below!      Stats: 6 Carries, 156 Yards, 2 TDs   Riley has been a staple on the Osceola offense and defense these past couple seasons. The senior put together an extremely productive and efficient night in Week 5. Speed, speed, speed was the name of the game as Riley was able to get outside of the containment defender with ease. That speed to stretch the field horizontally also beat angles down the sideline. Even when the defense was able to be in position, Riley was able to elude, cut and juke to avoid defenders and still create those big plays. It is fun tape from the senior athlete. Stats: 17/20, 256 Pass Yards, 5 TDs   I have had Holden catch my eyes a few times with his weekly production, but Week 5 made him a must include in this week's recap of the best I saw. Holden carved up the defense with pinpoint accuracy. Tap into the highlights and you will see him thread the needle on multiple TDs, showing accuracy, touch, and timing. I love the decision making too. Always knowing where to go with the ball and then knowing where to put it so his guy can make a play. Holden has his offense churning at the right time as they prepare for a huge Week 6 game.      Stats: 3 Receptions, 102 Yards, 2 TDs   We have mentioned efficiency a few times in this week's offensive recap, but nobody was as productive as [player_tooltip player_id='709901' first='Taylor' last='Gregg'] was with his touches. The senior WR turned 2 of his 3 catches into TDs on the way to also piling up 100+ yards. The first catch was a short drag across the field where he simply produced because of his top end speed. The 2nd TD showed off the acceleration that left the safety trying to recover with no success as Taylor ate up cushion and easily tracked down the ball for the huge catch and run. Taylor has the game-breaking speed that will translate to the next level. Check out the senior playmaker's tape below.      Stats: 21 Carries, 178 Yards, 4 Rush TDs, 2 Receptions, 24 Yards   The sophomore RB out of Freedom HS ran over, around, and through the Fox Valley Lutheran defense in Week 5. The 5'11" 200 lbs back left no doubt that he has the size, contact balance, power, and mentality to be able to handle a large workload while wearing down a defense and producing at a high level. Axzil has a special, innate, natural ability to get through contact. Whether it be with a stiff arm, or rolling with the punches and keeping his balance, or making tacklers miss with a juke or spin. The '28 is quickly building and developing instincts that you don't see often. He is a kid that defenses have to gang tackle and also make sure they have enough pursuit because Axzil has the quickness to make you miss 1 on 1 in the hole. I'm very excited to watch the underclassman continue to develop and put out film.      Stats: 8/9, 138 Pass Yards, 3 TDs   We have another impressively efficient performance to talk about here. Peyton has led the Columbus offense to a lot of wins and success in his time at the helm. Friday night he put together a quick, but strong example of his personal talents. The senior delivered passes to every level of the field with accuracy and did it in rhythm and on the move. He stretched the field up the seam with accuracy and showed touch on his check down that went for a score. The final play of the tape shows off more of that accuracy and easy arm strength following a great play fake that even got the cornerback he targeted to bite. Check it all out here.      Stats: 15/20, 238 Pass Yards, 1 Pass TD, 45 Rush Yards, 1 Rush TD   What a game for the sophomore QB out of Monona Grove. Jaxon and MG took on a Milton team that I had just watched secure an impressive win in Week 4. The tape doesn't waste any time before we see Jaxon's big arm. He delivers a pass without getting his feet set, then throws a bomb on another pass after scrambling to buy some time. Jaxon is on the path towards possessing an arm that will be able to make every throw needed at this level at the next with velocity behind it. You have to love the accuracy throughout the tape too. Especially since so many times the throw is on the move or off platform, yet it still ends up right where he needs to put it. Jaxon has a very high ceiling, and with two seasons still ahead of him I can't wait to see what he builds into.      Stats: 3/4, 86 Pass Yards, 1 TD, 11 Carries, 197 Yards, 3 TDs   Carter plays QB for Berlin, but the senior is utilized primarily as a running threat. That perfectly fits his skillset and has led to a lot of success for the Berlin offense. Carter is used to attack the edges of the defense a ton, and he has the speed to be able to get outside and when he gets 1 on 1 with a DB in space the advantage is in his favor. Carter has a strong lower body that helps him run through arm tackles and keep his balance even while the defense swipes as his legs. Plus he flashed a powerful stiff arm too. When Carter is loose he is a runaway freight train daring defenders to step in front of him. The explosive senior is definitely one to check out.      Stats: 121 Rushing Yards, 3 TDs   Darian had a fantastic week of churning out yards after contact. Multiple times you see his carries end with a swarm of defenders on him trying to drag him down. Darian seems to invite the contact and won't hesitate to take the physicality to the defense. The junior RB always falls forward to finish plays too. The saying is '3 yards and a cloud of dust" and that is exactly how Darian runs, but instead he does it while averaging 6.4 yards/carry. He is built to hammer the defense and break them with down with his power. He did that in Week 5.
