*Use code Johnson30 for 30% off a Prep Redzone subscription*

This state knows a thing or two about developing running backs who can go on to the college level and make a lasting impact for their teams from the FBS to D3 level. Because of that we always have unbelievable depth at the position, and that leads to athletes slipping under the radar at times. So we are going to hand pick and scout several members of the RB Class of 2027 who are entering this summer ready to work for and earn their first college offer. There is a wide range of traits and talents in this article, so make sure to go through everyone coaches!

This is one of my favorite playmakers at the RB position. Jebari piled up 11 TDs on the way to a D1 State Championship despite splitting work with two other RBs throughout the year. Jebari's production draws the picture at how much of a big play threat he is. Then you turn on the film and you see the way that he creates that production. The 5'8" 175 lbs 2027 is at his best with his quickness, burst, and agility. When things get tight Jebari is able to create space with his athleticism and then turn those glimpses of daylight into the game breaking plays. This offseason I hope to see more proof of improvement in his hands to really round out his skill set for the next level.

This was a fun kid to watch back in November as he and Little Chute battled in the State Championship. The 5'10" 180 lbs athlete is a two way player, suiting up at RB and LB. While he isn't the biggest athlete, Reece has a compact and powerful frame. That has allowed him to be a cannonball. Especially on defense you see him run through blockers and lay down big hits. Carrying the ball, Reece is at his best when he can get the ball and go. He is a one cut back who doesn't do much cutting. Instead he will either beat pursuit with speed or show off that low center of gravity and effective stiff arm to keep the defense off of him. One he does hit the open field you see the speed to pull away.

Coaches should really enjoy how Lateef plays RB. The 2027 RB is so patient. There are so many highlights of him letting blocks set up and because of it he isn't touched until he is 7 yards downfield. Love also does really well with his vision. He knows his aiming point, finds the hole, and once his blocks are set you see him stick his foot in the ground and attack. Once Love goes on the attack the 5'10" 185 lbs athlete is a tough tackle. He has some really solid contact balance and can recover when knocked off balance. He is coming off a productive junior season. Now is his time to really make anime for himself this summer with good testing.

What a weapon Reece is working himself into! The 5'8" 180 lbs athlete slashes defenses with his next level athletic profile. The kid finds the hole, accelerates 0-60 instantly, and then can flip the switch to that 2nd gear in the open field. As an undersized back Reece is able to dominate with that superior athleticism. What is surprising is that Reece flashes some physical running. There are plenty of clips of him leaving a wake of broken tackles behind him. That compact frame is built low to the ground and because of that so is his center of gravity. I love the way he is always fighting for extra yards until he is finally drug down too. This is a kid who should test well and also give coaches confidence when they go back to the tape.

This kid is a runaway freight train when he gets a head of steam going downhill. Ayden is a bigger back at 5'10" 205 lbs. That big frame comes with a wide base that doesn't move off center easily. The highlights show a kid that easily rips through arm tackles, especially when he really gets rolling. Ayden is a deceiving athlete on top of the power. He can really get up to an explosive top end speed that has DBs doing their best to catch him with a pursuit angle. Ayden would fit really well into a one cut role where he could attack off tackle and use that blend of speed and power to earn some tougher yards.

Morell doesn't have the size to be an every down back, but the things you could do to get him the football out in space could provide an offense at the next level with a very impactful spark. His highlights are extremely fun to watch. He has some outstanding acceleration and his top end speed is equally impressive. The two come together to make a highlight reel full of plays where he is leaving no doubt that he is usually at least one of the fastest athletes on the field. It is wild to see him already at top speed by the time he is going through the hole. It leaves no room for error by the defense trying to fill their gaps. This type of mismatch definitely has a home at the next level.

We have talked about a lot of speed and explosive athletes so far. Next we have the power back. Darian is a 5'10" 205 lbs athlete who piled up just shy of 1,100 yards as a junior. The big man is a boulder rolling downhill when he has the football. Clip after clip you watch him roll right through arms trying to wrap him up. He is built so sturdy from his legs all the way up. While Darian isn't a burner we do see flashes of effective speed to pick up some chunk plays. At the next level we could even see him in a FB type role with his physical prowess.
