With three weeks complete, more sophomores are taking the field this season. I want to discuss five sophomores who have been performing well to start the year.

I wrote about Key'Sean just in July, but his play on the field makes him deserving of another write-up. In my Taft preview, he was more of a projection as he didn't have a full season of varsity tape from his freshman season. Now on the varsity squad from week one, it's evident that Key'Sean is an absolute playmaker. In three weeks, Torbert has picked the ball off three times and taken one to the house. He's an alpha-level athlete and looks like a veteran. He has excellent instincts and can track the ball and move downfield to stick with his man. He just picked up his fifth FBS offer from Liberty, and I expect more to come during the season.

Montgomery's efforts were just rewarded as he picked up his first FBS offer from Liberty. Montgomery is very agile and, overall, a great athlete. He can get moving quickly after his snap and has power in his lower half and arms to get a good strike and push back in his initial block. He's reactive to get to his second assignment and has great awareness of extra rushers and stunts. With some added weight, we could be talking about a premier P4 offensive line prospect in Jace.

Brysen has been a baller for Wadsworth, leading the Grizzlies' offense to a 3-0 record and 45.6 points per game. Brysen is a pocket passer who isn't afraid to take a shot to complete passes. He's got the arm to stretch the field vertically, and throws straight-line ropes to his guys in the short and intermediate game. He's good at reading the defense pre-snap, and can make the adjustment after the snap. He's not much of a runner at all, but he can use his legs to create time to make something happen downfield. I'm excited to see how Wadsworth's passing attack develops as we get into conference play.

Cartae is coming off a monstrous performance in Chillicothe's lone win this season. He broke the single-game school record for rushing with 420 yards and added five touchdowns. Cartae runs with juice. He does well at knowing when to stay patient and when to explode. His athleticism shines wherever he is on the field. With outstanding contact balance and power in his upper half, Cartae is a tough tailback to bring down to the ground.

Curtis is someone I saw live in week three. He was a nightmare for the Pickerington Central offense to deal with. He's quick to react to plays and can sniff out the run well. He plays fast and is versatile on the field. He plays with instincts and shows that he knows where he needs to be in a stout Pickerington North defense. With a bit of added size and experience, Curtis can blossom into an excellent prospect.
