Week 0 Recap- Standout Offensive Performances Across the State

Man, Week 0 was ELECTRIC!   Today, we're watching some of our Standout Performers on the offensive side of the ball. These prospects dominated their opponents this week and helped lead their teams to huge opening week wins.   With that being said, make sure you watch their film below! I have a feeling we'll be hearing a lot more from this group this year.    [player_tooltip player_id='1301122' first='Bryson' last='Riggins'] went off this week, opening up this season with a HUGE performance and a dominant 42-13 win over Carroll.   “Riggins is an impressive passer in several different ways- he has some serious arm talent, navigates the pocket really well, and is a terrific processor who quickly reads defenses to find open WRs all over the field.   I think I'm most impressed with Riggins' improvisation and ability to avoid pressure. He's a tough QB to bring down who can deliver huge throws on the run while also having the mobility to turn upfield and create big gains on the ground“   Riggins put on a clinic, completing 17/25 passes for 303 yards and 4 TDs, with 4 carries, 62 yards, and one TD on the ground as well.   We've been speaking highly of Riggins for a while, so this doesn't come as a shock. He'll likely end up as one of the state's top passers this season. Everyone needs to look out for him moving forward. At 6'1 185, he's an excellent route runner with a great set of hands and tons of speed he uses to stretch the field out wide. I'm super impressed with how easily and quickly Pinto gains separation off of DBs- it doesn't matter what route he's running, Pinto leaves defenders in the dust.   Pinto is also extremely tough to tackle after the catch. He does a great job using his speed and twitch to evade defenders and plays through contact to fight for every possible yard before being taken down.“   Pinto racked up 6 catches for 81 yards and one TD. Some of the plays Pinto made this week were downright ridiculous. If you throw it up to him, there's a 99.99% chance he's coming down with the ball- and he showed that all game Friday.   You've gotta watch this highlight below. You can see his concentration, catch radius, and hands on full display. Pinto is a dangerous player to have on the outside. I can't wait to see how the rest of his season unfolds.   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/RolliePinto/status/1959266746667520468 </div></figure>     [player_tooltip player_id='1035273' first='Jacobi' last='Harris'] is an up-and-coming RB from Hillcrest that I've been looking forward to watching this season, and man, did he start his sophomore season on the right foot.   “Harris is electric with the ball in his hands- he plays with a ton of speed, twitch, and quickness he uses to come up with some seriously impressive plays on the ground, consistently outrunning entire defenses. Harris has a quick burst out of the backfield, great vision, and does an excellent job following his blockers to maximize each carry. Harris is an explosive threat every carry, but especially on the outside.   Once he turns the corner, good luck stopping him- he has terrific speed in the open field, can make defenders miss, and plays through contact to come up with some massive gains on the outside. Harris is also productive in the passing game-using his hands to create tons of plays out of the backfield off of screens and other shorter routes.“   Hillcrest opened up its season with a dominant 35-7 win over Florence, and Harris was a huge reason why. He racked up 131 yards and 3 TDs and consistently found ways to carve up Florence's defense on the ground.   You've gotta check out some of Harris's highlights from this week. I'm seriously looking forward to the rest of his sophomore year.   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/JacobiH2028/status/1959318901541466422 </div></figure>     [player_tooltip player_id='1850672' first='Damarrian' last='Barnes'] took over in Friday's matchup against Marbury, accounting for every score in Stanhope Elmore's 28-6 victory.   I hadn't watched Barnes before this week, but man, did he impress.   "Barnes has elite vision, impressive speed and acceleration, and runs with great contact balance. Barnes did a great job finding rushing lanes and taking the ball upfield. He's patient when following his blockers and has the speed and elusiveness to shake and leave defenders in the dust   It's tough for defenders to take Barnes down. He's a hard runner with great contact balance and can power through defenders to make some highlight reel plays on the ground. I'm excited to see more from him this season."   Barnes went off this week, racking up 204 rushing yards and 4 TDs on the ground.   Make sure you check out some of his highlights from this week. I'm really looking forward to seeing more of Stanhope Elmore's rushing attack this season- they put together a heck of a performance this week.      [player_tooltip player_id='1850682' first='Jailen' last='Wheeler'] is a talented senior RB who came up huge in Baker's 41-31 win over Theodore this past Friday.   "I'm really impressed with Wheeler's skill set. He's electric with the ball in his hands and can create huge plays on the ground and through the air by using his explosive speed and quickness. In addition to his speed, Wheeler also has terrific balance. He can easily change his direction, make defenders miss, and stay on his feet no matter who is in front of him- it's seriously impressive to watch."   Theodore couldn't find a way to stop Wheeler. He was terrific at every spot of the field, breaking off long TD runs down the sideline and powering through the middle in short yardage situations as well.   In total, Wheeler racked up 23 carries for 184 yards and 3 TDs on the ground, and 2 catches for 21 yards receiving.   Baker has a ton of offensive firepower this season. I'm really excited to see how they and Wheeler do the rest of this year; we're going to have to look out.
