I recently finished a series on some of the top players in the lower classifications, but amidst that series and our NCHSAA conference previews, we haven't had much coverage of other associations, namely the North Carolina Independent School Athletic Association (NCISAA).

Here, I'm going position-by-position to give readers an idea of which private school players to keep an eye out for this season. We're finishing the NCISAA positional breakdowns with the defensive backs. Here are five NCISAA DBs to know.

Ravin is one of our favorite NCISAA prospects as the high-academic plays bigger than his frame suggests. The recent Washington & Lee commit loves to hit and he wraps up when he tackles. An all-conference selection last season, Ravin takes excellent angles and plays with a high I.Q.

Summerville had an excellent sophomore season, picking off seven passes while playing both safety positions. He can come down in the box or play a center field role. He's athletic, and has the speed to recover deep or to break on balls thrown over the middle of the field. He can hit and he's not afraid of contact, giving him a nice balance to his game.

Geathers comes from a football family, but he's one of the first defensive backs in the group. He could grow into a linebacker and plays more as a box safety than a pure coverage guy right now, but he's versatile and his football I.Q. is obvious. He can do almost anything asked of him, both due to his mentality and understanding of the game, and because of his athletic ability.

Haynes is new to the state after transferring to Metrolina from Nation Ford High School, just over the border in South Carolina. He can play both corner and safety, but likely projects as a highly athletic corner prospect, a guy who can cover an opponent's best player. He has the speed to recover if he's initially beaten, and we like the upside for the class of 2027 defender.

Even though he's still a bit undersized, Dollard is supremely talented, and we're not the only people to notice. He's verging on double-digit Power Four offers from teams like NC State, Nebraska, and Florida State. He has excellent coverage skills and can lock down an opponent's top guy, something we love to see from young corners.
