About Mac

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

Aggressive/physical tackler at nickel with good zone eyes and fluid man coverage in the slot

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

Not the biggest player on the field so I play to my strengths while intending to be the aggressor in block shedding and tackling

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

No

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

On a recently struggling team I’ve learned to not focus on the outcome as much as I do the input; I know the more I put in the more I will get out, although it can’t always go my way. This has led me to be a great leader and to not play for myself, but for the brothers next to me.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

No, other than being undersized and surgery after the season due to an injury made in week 5, I have not had to face any significant challenges.

What type of college are you looking for?

I place where I can work hard and develop into a great player over time with hard work, as well as enjoying my 4 years at the same time.

Mac has been one of my favorite defensive backs for a while. He can excel in both man and zone coverage, and his ability to break on the ball while it is in the air is impressive. Mac has good speed and can stay with receivers in coverage, but his football intelligence is one of his major strengths. He is always in the right place and at the right time defensively.

Summerville had an excellent sophomore season, picking off seven passes while playing both safety positions. He can come down in the box or play a center field role. He’s athletic, and has the speed to recover deep or to break on balls thrown over the middle of the field. He can hit and he’s not afraid of contact, giving him a nice balance to his game.

Summerville can really move, with a 4.6 40 and 4.3 shuttle, and that shows up on film. His ball production was off the charts, as he registered seven picks last season in 10 games. That’s a testament to his ability to read the eyes of the quarterback and play facing the line of scrimmage.
