Tate is the youngest guy listed, and he had a promising start to his high school career as a freshman. He played a bit undersized, but has added weight since, taking momentum from the end of the year into the offseason. He finished strong, with four of his six tackles for loss coming in his final four games of the season.

On Hudl, it can be difficult to identify defensive linemen pre-snap. But Tate’s get-off is so good that you don’t even need an arrow to know which guy he is about 0.5 seconds after the snap. He has violent hands, excellent strength, and a good feel for what quarterbacks are doing in the pocket. He’s one of the best interior pass-rushers in the class, frequently pushing the pocket and disrupting offenses.

Tate is quite the athlete, and he excels against the run, already carving out a role on Country Day’s varsity team. But he also has some flashes of elite pass-rushing potential, and that’s what gives him his upside. He’s still adjusting to the position and simply how to move with twitch. That will come, and is common for young interior pass-rushers. We love both his early production and future upside.
