The top returning passer in 2A, [player_tooltip player_id='1242935' first='Brock' last='Badding'] is back for western Iowa powerhouse, Kuemper Catholic this fall. Just the second quarterback to reach the 2K passing yards mark in 2A last season, Badding completed 54.5% of his passes for 2,150 yards and 19 scores through the air for the Knights in 2024.

Spreading the ball around the way they did, Kuemper and Badding will look to increase the completion percentage and ramp up his production in 2025. With flashes of high-level ball-placement on his film from last season, the 6'1" senior gunslinger oozes potential as a passer that should be amongst the best quarterbacks in the state this fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='1100526' first='Judah' last='Lock'] and Grand View Christian move up from Class 1A to 2A this season. The No. 11 quarterback in the class of 2026, Lock threw for 2,070 yards and 19 touchdowns against 1A competition last fall. With a quick release and a strong understanding of his team's offense, Lock can take advantage of defenses by getting the ball out quickly and placing it where he expects his receiver to be.

He'll look to cut down on turnovers and, like Badding, look to increase his completion percentage (54.8%) from last fall, but the makings are there for he and the Thunder to jump onto the scene in 2A this season.

With Bellevue moving up two classes from Class A to 2A this fall, [player_tooltip player_id='1614201' first='Cal' last='Bonifas'] finds himself in the No. 3 spot in production from last season. Passing for 1,928 yards while completing 65.7% of his passes from last season, Bonifas was a solid, efficient passer, throwing for 17 touchdowns to eight picks.

Moving up from Class A to Class 2A is a daunting task, but with the numbers Bonifas put up last season, Bellevue -- which resides about 25 minutes southeast of Dubuque -- will have a shot to compete in 2025.

Talan Fuson was one of the more productive quarterbacks in all of 1A last fall. Moving up to 2A and losing one of his top receivers in Max Dalton will make is difficult to replicate nearly passing and rushing for over 1,000 yards last season.

All-in-all, Fuson completed 117 passes for 1,856 yards and 24 touchdowns to go with 127 carries for 902 yards and 13 scores. Given what he could do on the air and on the ground, Fason possesses athleticism that makes him appear to be one of the more underrecruited prospects in the state, opting to commit to Morningside University in July.

Returning for his senior year after yet another 2A basketball state title last season for Western Christian, Landon Destigter will look to replicate the same team success on the gridiron this fall with the Wolfpack.

Throwing for 1,633 yards and 17 touchdowns to just four interceptions last season, Destigter is primarily a hooper for Western Christian, but also an apt QB with an effortless, flick-of-the-wrist throwing motion.
