PRZVA Team Previews: Woodbridge Vikings

<p><strong>Last Years Result:</strong> 7-4 (Capture first Cardinal District title since 2009 and first playoff appearance since 2017)</p>   <p>Oh boy the hype train for the Woodbridge Vikings started middle of last season in my opinion. The Vikings finished the regular season on a 6 game winning streak with triumphant victories over Forest Park and Gar Field. They had a spirted back and forth battle with North Stafford only to fall in the final minutes ending their entertaining season. Since then Coach Longerbeam seems to have his program reinvigorated with a reported 100 plus kids attending pre-season workouts. Woodbridge never backs down from a challenge and has a tough schedule once again. That hasn't seemed to change the Vikings mindset as they want a Region and possible state title in 2025.</p>   <p><strong>Key Returnees:</strong> [player_tooltip player_id='412072' first='Marquece' last='Sharpe Jr.'], [player_tooltip player_id='1202104' first='Solomon' last='Bezabih'], [player_tooltip player_id='1297627' first='Raphael' last='Johnson'], [player_tooltip player_id='1674421' first='Cassius' last='Kirkley'], [player_tooltip player_id='413162' first='Lloyd' last='Cropp Jr'].</p>    <p class="text-gray-700">Ranked 39th overall in the 2028 for good reasons, Marquece Sharpe became a star as a freshmen for the Vikings. He may have saved his best for last, to clinch their first league title in over a decade Woodbridge had to defeat longtime rival Gar Field. All Sharpe did was rush for 170 yards and 2 scores to help lead them to victory. Behind a returning veteran offensive line, I would expect Sharpe to pick up right where he left off.</p>   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/bigquece_3/status/1856846389885407655 </div></figure>     <p class="text-gray-700">[player_tooltip player_id='413162' first='Lloyd' last='Cropp Jr']. was a 2nd team all-district defensive back as a sophomore and should be one of the better corners in the region. Last fall he had 3 interceptions and with his long reach and stride, it is very tough for a receiver to create separation from him. Staying active this off-season, Cropp should start to get offers by the end of this season. </p>   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/Yoboilloy36/status/1859329489882562631 </div></figure>     <p class="text-gray-700">My dude [player_tooltip player_id='1202104' first='Solomon' last='Bezabih'] had a great junior season and is back with one thing on his mind a State Title. All district last season, Bezabih is a mean/nasty run blocker and holds up very well in his pass protection. Part of why Woodbridge feels good about their title aspirations is they may not just have the biggest offensive line in Virginia, but they may also have the meanest. Solomon would be a division 2 coaches dream at the next level but I believe he is FCS talent.</p>   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/SolomonBezabih8/status/1922814879569698898 </div></figure>     <p class="text-gray-700">Howard bound [player_tooltip player_id='1297627' first='Raphael' last='Johnson'] was a force in Woodbridge passing game last fall. After transferring in from Alexandra City, Johnson hauled in 16 receptions and 3 touchdowns. Those numbers along with everything else he does for the Vikings offense put him on radars for multiple FCS schools. Ranked 66th overall Johnson saw one of the biggest stock increases in recent updated 2026 class. He surely will make the quarterback change comfortable as he is a matchup nightmare. </p>   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/rahjohnson_/status/1952536540707725378 </div></figure>    <p><strong>Key Newcomers:</strong> [player_tooltip player_id='853949' first='Caleb' last='Tucker'], [player_tooltip player_id='1426550' first='Vinnie' last='Hill'], [player_tooltip player_id='1169058' first='Alhaji' last='Kamara']</p>    <p class="text-gray-700">Previously the back up quarterback on Freedom-Woodbridge's state champion teams, [player_tooltip player_id='853949' first='Caleb' last='Tucker'] is finally ready for his moment. Tucker is good and this is a great transition for Coach Longerbeam to make up for the loss of the dynamic Denari Hill. Caleb will have plenty of talent to throw too and should know the system quite well. Their seems to be a lot confidence in Tucker to take over quarterback duties, after having to wait so long for his chance I can imagine he is ready to go.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">[player_tooltip player_id='1426550' first='Vinnie' last='Hill'] burst onto the PWC scene as a sophomore for the Gainesville Cardinals. In 2024 he had 5 touchdown receptions and 29 catches despite only playing in 5 games. That is impressive enough but what he has done this off-season has got the town of Woodbridge buzzing. I swear I saw him at several different camps and he was either earning MVP or top performer honors at each one. Pretty good numbers for his sophomore season which figure to increase playing for what may be the best defense in the region. Alhaji has a ton of potential for the next level and really seems to be settling in nicely with his new surroundings.
