Lake Orion lost a nail-biter to a gritty KLAA West team. Although they begin the season with a loss, there was a lot to like about this team's performance. Love the talent on this team- this a VERY balanced squad, especially defensively. Here are my impressions of five of the more underrated Lake Orion prospects.

I was happy to see that Brody was heavily involved in the Lake Orion game plan. I got a solid look at Brody on offense and special teams.

I didn't realize how good an athlete Brody is. His explosiveness really pops. I'm not sure how experienced Brody is as a receiver, but I felt he did pretty well. Again, liked his athletic ability, think there's upside, but the Northville D did a good job tackling and shedding his blocks. Considering Brody is also a team captain, it's safe to say that his role will only increase. He's got a couple of weeks against Stoney Creek and Rochester to polish his game before OAA Red play.

I was happy to see Anderson as QB1 yesterday night. I missed seeing him in the offseason, but I'm super happy I got to witness his talent last night.

Watching Anderson in the first half, he looked like he was having a lot of fun. Looked very comfortable in the pocket and trusted his O-Line to give him time. When pressure caved in, he did a great job finding space and taking off. There was a moment in the first half where an LO drive got stalled, Anderson and some teammates went to the bench, and hashed out some issues. Frustration all-around, but that frustration was turned into a very constructive, productive conversation. Love seeing a QB and his teammates able to be frustrated without pointing fingers.

In terms of the passing game, Anderson was a little less accurate than I expected. He seemed to rush some of his reads, which led to inaccurate throws that should have been pretty easy. At other times, he second-guessed and held onto the ball for a tad long. All of these issues are quite common for a first-time Varsity starter, especially against a great defense.

Anderson is a great talent that will absolutely improve as the season goes on. I'm still very happy with where I have Anderson ranked.

Lake Orion's starting center played very well. I was consistently impressed by Brayden's run blocking. Dude mauled Northville's NT a couple of times. Good footwork, a few pancakes, and even got a talking to by the ref, seemingly for laying too good of a pancake block. Love what I saw from Brayden in the run game- I could also see he was having a ton of fun doing it.

James showed flashes. Inside the tackles, James did a good job navigating traffic and earning positive yards. The last-minute touchdown to nearly tie the game comes to mind regarding good inside runs. Keep repping contact balance, and he'll be a very productive back in the OAA Red this season. Excited to see James' midseason tape once the time comes around.

I've evaluated Alex's 2024 season tape on a few occasions. In short, I was impressed by Alex's willingless to stop the run.

Somehow, Alex outperformed my expectations. I was highly impressed with his effort and focus throughout the game. Northville had a hard time running between the tackles, and Alex was a massive reason why. he plugged everything up. Additionally, Alex was sent on a variety of blitzes. His explosiveness makes for great pass-rush upside if LO can scheme some free rushing lanes.

One of Alex's best plays came on a Northville WR screen. Alex attempted to blitz and laid a big hit on Northville's tackle. Once Alex diagnosed the WR screen, shot himself out of a cannon toward the sideline and laid a big hit on the receiver. Alex could be the best run-stopper in the OAA Red. Love what he showed against a great rushing offense.
