On Saturday, May 3 I was fortunate enough to be invited to cover You Are Athlete's New Jersey Regional Exposure Camp. This event had a double session that features middle schoolers first and high schoolers second. As is customary whenever I attend an event, the first thing I take note of are the prospects that have the clear, physical measurables to immediately compete at the next, immediate level of play – also known as the eye test.

Leading off today's coverage is [player_tooltip player_id='1673631' first='Jules' last='Johnson'] from Monroe Township. Johnson had one damn-near flawless rep where I witnessed him run, turn, and maintain perfect coverage throughout all phases of the route. Physically Johnson does has some length to his frame. I wish to see cleaner footwork moving forward, as I saw at one moment the turf monster got him... Making the trip from New York was [player_tooltip player_id='1105251' first='Dylan' last='Freeman']. Still just a sophomore, Freeman competed and held his own. For the 2027 prospect's stock, and thus performance, continue to rise, next time I check back on him I wish to see Freeman's hips loosen up a bit more.

Closing are are a pair of Jersey prospects that I am, admittedly, partial towards. [player_tooltip player_id='1236608' first='Jason' last='Louis'] of Rahway is one I have seen both live and watched film on at this point. An efficient mover, there is little wasted time when Louis is tasked with turning his hips. This core-led twitchiness allows Louis to get outstanding breaks on the ball. At one moment I was discussing him as a prospect I really liked with another coach, who after watching a few of Louis' reps with me made the comment that he thought the 2028 graduate has command and understanding of the feel of-and-through the ground. Later on I noted how the current Indian's eyes were locked on the body of his matchup, allowing him to consistently be in great position for pass break ups - many of which he came up with. The only time I noticed Louis lose a rep was simply due to a size mismatch - never from technique, timing, or positioning.

There was probably not a more physical defensive back on this day than [player_tooltip player_id='835479' first='Nyko' last='Monroe']. Monroe has really good pad level, which allows him to play with outstanding leverage when jamming receivers at the line - something he prefers and usually wins. Additionally, this pad level translates to balance if-and-when he chooses to play off. Later on while he was in trail technique I saw Monroe break underneath a route for an easy pick. During cat & mouse drills, this 2028 graduate showed an aggressive nature in order to fly down hill and attack the line to gain. One rep I specifically remember was toward the end when he was lined up against twin brother Kymore. Niko won that particular rep, and I thought shotgun in the family SUV; however, on my way out it turned out that mama's baby, the youngest of the siblings, got to ride in the front seat.
