We have just completed the largest update to the Nebraska Class of 2027 rankings, resulting in over 100 new names in our database and a completely revamped rankings list. To cover some of the new players and risers, I will provide positional overviews that offer a quick breakdown of a few players in each group, as well as share any relevant recruiting news on those prospects. Keep an eye out, as we will also be conducting player evaluations, where I will provide a more in-depth game tape breakdown as part of the update coverage.

[player_tooltip player_id='487734' first='Braylen' last='Warren'] (@BraylenwarrenQB) - Omaha Westside's [player_tooltip player_id='487734' first='Braylen' last='Warren'] continues to rise up the national ranks and has earned quite the offer list along the way. The 4-star QB received his first offer last summer coming off a strong Iowa State camp, and since leading the Warriors to a state championship appearance, has earned offers from Kansas State, Oklahoma State, South Florida, Kansas, Mizzou, Arkansas, Cincinnati, Iowa, Illinois, Cal, Virginia, Michigan State, Florida State, Toledo, and Virginia Tech. Braylen ended his junior campaign with 2,105 yards, a 67% completion rate, 122 QBR, 30 passing touchdowns, and two rushing touchdowns. Watching clips from Braylen's spring/summer, it's clear he's operating at a higher level, looking sharper and even more precise than last year. The sky is the limit for Warren and Co. as they look to get back to Memorial Stadium.

[player_tooltip player_id='1070886' first='Wyatt' last='Frey'] (@FreyWyatt53088) - Lawrence-Nelson's [player_tooltip player_id='1070886' first='Wyatt' last='Frey'] is one of the more interesting prospects in this cycle with enormous untapped potential that resulted in his first Power 4 offer from Northwestern... as a tight end. Additionally, Wyatt has shown the arm talent to play QB at the next level and the playmaking ability to earn some looks at safety. Frey had a great first season with the Raiders as he recorded 937 passing yards, 1,258 rushing yards, 12 passing touchdowns, 19 rushing touchdowns, 92 tackles, four TFLs, a sack, and six interceptions (two TDs). Great testing numbers with a 4.7 40-yard dash, 4.12 shuttle drill, 7.00 L-drill, and a 9'6" broad jump. Talented athlete with a limitless ceiling.

[player_tooltip player_id='1075673' first='Chase' last='Grow'] (@ChaseGrow) - Chase stepped up nicely in his first full season as a starter for Gretna East. Grow looked sharper in every aspect of his game in 2024, and it showed with a huge spike in production, throwing for 1,830 yards, 21 touchdowns, and a 110.4 QBR on a 59% completion rate. Chase was also a threat on the ground, with an additional 283 rushing yards and four touchdowns. When you watch his sophomore tape, you see a QB who is comfortable in the pocket, makes smart reads, and can deliver an accurate ball. This spring/summer circuit has been good for Chase, who looks ready to lead the Griffins to another playoff appearance.

[player_tooltip player_id='422371' first='Gavin' last='Semm'] (@Gavin_Semm_QB) - After a season with the Islanders, QB [player_tooltip player_id='422371' first='Gavin' last='Semm'] is back at Lincoln Southeast and looks primed to win over the QB1 role. Despite appearing in only six games, Semm had a strong sophomore campaign, throwing for 801 yards and eight touchdowns while completing 58% of his passes. Gavin was impressive with his ability to evade the pass rush and make snap decisions when throwing on the move. He can throw into tight windows and can throw with touch. Very much looking forward to seeing how this Southeast offense operates with Gavin in at QB1.

[player_tooltip player_id='1339648' first='Dez' last='Slocum'] (@DezSlocum) - Despite an up-and-down 2024 season, the Links were still able to find some success and potential to build on going into this fall. One of those was the play of QB [player_tooltip player_id='1339648' first='Dez' last='Slocum'], who improved with each passing week and became more confident as the season played on, ending the year with 650 yards and six passing touchdowns. When given time to operate, Dez displays the ability to read defenses effectively and has a strong arm that can deliver the ball to all levels of the field. If Dez and company can limit the mistakes from last season, this could be a chance for a turnaround year for the Links.

[player_tooltip player_id='1085133' first='Tristian' last='James'] (@tristianj_0115) - Bellevue West's [player_tooltip player_id='1085133' first='Tristian' last='James'] is another interesting prospect whose versatility could see him earn opportunities at several positions. Serving as the backup for the Thunderbirds, James' athleticism still paved the way for him to see the field and earn the starting RB spot. Tristian ended his sophomore campaign with a team-leading 120 carries, 849 rushing yards, and 11 touchdowns. James is a super smooth runner who can make defenders miss in the open field and has elite burst to break away from defenses. Additionally, James threw for 334 yards and two touchdowns in a limited passing role. With star QB Anderson back under center, it might be another year before Trisitan gets his shot as the starting QB, but don't expect him to be on the sidelines very much this season.
