It's a return to an old era at Carmel as Kevin Wright comes back to the Greyhounds as head coach. Wright led Carmel from 2010-2014, during which he compiled three state championship appearances (and a victory in 2011). The Greyhounds are fired up to have the coach who enters his 17th year overall as head coach in Indiana, where he has a 159-28 record. The Greyhounds are certainly hopeful Wright can lead the team to heights following a rough-and-tumble 2024 season littered with injuries.

We'll get a good idea, quickly, how good Carmel will be as they open up with four tough opponents: at Fishers, at Louisville Trinity, and two tough home games against Westfield and Centerville High School (Ohio). Here are two notes on high-impact players who could lead the ‘Hounds to new heights in 2025.

Key returners on offense.

Returning for the Greyhounds on offense will be quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='339065' first='Anthony' last='Coellner'] who has committed to Troy. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound gunslinger has a lot of potential at the college level. A talented young player to keep on your radar will be Ayden Johnson, a 2028 prospect who is a threat in the running game and passing game who has a chance to be really good and see his role expand this fall.

Key returners on defense.

The meat of the team will be on the defensive side of the ball. Safety [player_tooltip player_id='1087436' first='Isaac' last='Nelson'] is committed to Wake Forest and is a big returning starter. Defensive end/edge prospect [player_tooltip player_id='1175629' first='Kaiden' last='Bower'] is a tall and long 6-foot-3, 250-pound edge who is committed to Charlotte, and has immense potential at the college level with his size-speed combination and quick first step. A rising junior who has a chance to develop into a star in the program is outside linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='1707072' first='Aiden' last='Dickerson'], a 6-foot-4, 220-pound prospect who could be one of the Hoosier State's best prospects with a strong junior season.
