Campbell recorded 14 sacks last season, and as Decatur Central makes the jump to 6A, they will need every bit of that and more if the Hawks are to compete for a state championship. He is a do-it-all prospect on defense – he can align as a safety, outside linebacker and nickel corner – who is quick to close on the ball and loves to wreck havoc against quarterbacks, all in addition to his ball skills.

Campbell is one of the nation’s most electric DBs, and his play has been as consistent as anyone’s since he entered the high school stage. He’s quick, twitchy, understands route concepts, and has good instincts that put him in position to make play after play. He can play man coverage on the outside and be physical, and rotate with zone. The 3-star DB has offers from Akron, Ball State, Central Michigan, and Cincinnati, to name a few.

Campbell is someone we know well and have covered quite a bit since he stepped onto the field. He’s always been one of the best defenders in the region, but as he’s gotten older and got the reps in, he’s only improved and plays with more confidence. I love Campbell’s ability to track the ball, make the play, and be as consistent as anyone. There’s a reason they won the state championship, and Campbell had a lot to do with it.

The Campbell family is full of great athletes and there’s a chance that Mykul is the best to come down the pipe yet. He’s a great athlete. Everything for him comes so easily. He glides around the football field, has a great sense of the game, and can play just about anywhere. For a defensive back to be able to pressure the QB as well as he does, it speaks volumes about his creativity and strength on the field. With 42 tackles, 7.5 sacks, and 12 hurries on the year, Campbell is getting pressure on the quarterbacks when given his chances and that’s exactly what you want to see with a recruit of this potential.

There might not be any player in Indiana starting to heat up anymore than Campbell. The younger brother MJ Campbell, the Louisville commit, Mykul may give his brother a run for his money about who is the better player when it’s all said and done. Mykul is an elite athlete who patrols the backend of the defense. He’s able to cover sideline to sideline and has great instincts. He’s willing to come up and play the run as well as being able to make open field tackles look easy. He’s quickly picked up a few offers already, but those are likely the first of many yet to come.
