He had a big touchdown run to open the second half, shifting momentum heavily into the Hawks’ favor and making a key difference in winning the game. He also scored a touchdown late in the fourth quarter to give the Hawks a lead they wouldn’t relinquish. His speed, explosiveness, and vision with the ball in his hands are elite. Curt Cignetti’s staff has to be excited about him heading to Bloomington.

Hicks, an Indiana commit, has the goods. He is an electrifying playmaker who is a constant threat with the ball in his hands. His shiftiness after the catch and ability to make defenders miss, on both offense and special teams as a return man, is outstanding. He is a great player on defense, too, where his ball skills and closing speed are put to great use.

Hicks was big for Decatur Central tonight as not only did he score a pair of TDs, but he was on the receiving end of the opening score of the game. A 38-yard TD got things rolling. He later caught an 8-yard TD to go up 2 scores. Hicks carried the ball 9 times for 60 yards and then led the team with 6 catches and in receiving yards with 91. Hicks’s versatility and explosiveness come through week after week, including when the lights are brightest.

Decatur Central is loaded with a ton of talent and Hicks appears to be the leading receiving emerging from the group. He’s lengthy and has great ball skills. He’s able to snatch the ball out of the air and doesn’t have an issue being hit. He holds onto the ball and takes the contact as well as you’d hope. He’s got breakaway speed and all he needs is the smallest crease to make something happen. I think Hicks quickly rises up boards and once playoffs come, he’ll be ready for the brighter lights.

Decatur Central is loaded with talented players like Hicks and they all have their big games. This past Friday, it was Hicks’s turn to pop off. He’s got elite speed, good length, and the ability to get behind the defense. He’s great with the ball in his hands and that’s why he returns kicks. He housed a 99-yard kickoff return for a TD on the night and then added a 96-yard touchdown run, 85 yards, and 2 TDs through the air. He was on fire and impossible to stop as they blewout No.1 ranked Plainfield.

One of the many versatile athletic studs that Decatur Central has decided it was his week to go off. Hicks has great speed and if he sees an open lane the defense is in trouble. On the first play of the game last week he scored from 64 yards out. He ended the night with 150 yards and 2 TDs and then added a 66 yard pick-six. It was an incredible showing from Hicks and one that should really help put him in the spotlight.
