Morgantown QB/ATH [player_tooltip player_id='923337' first='Maddox' last='Twigg'] will debut in our 2028 rankings with the coveted #1 QB and overall prospect in the class. He's already earned an offer from Marshall earlier this summer after a strong 7-on-7 showing and has some of the highest upside in this class as an athlete. Twigg has the size and athleticism to play a few different positions at the next level for a D1 program, but will begin his journey as a prospect in our rankings with a quarterback label. His sophomore season will give us a bigger sample size of his arm talent, as all of the other physical traits are already apparent. Twigg has future P4 ability either as a QB or ATH, depending on how his arm develops over the next three years. Expect him to receive attention from the highest level of college sooner rather than later.

2028 Cabell Midland ATH [player_tooltip player_id='1225956' first='Carson' last='Christian'] exudes potential and upside as an athlete whose best position as a prospect is yet to be determined. We got a glimpse of him at running back as a freshman on varsity for the Knights, but Christian likely projects better for the next level elsewhere. His length and athleticism will give him positional options depending on how much more size adds to his 6'3 frame. Receiver is likely where he makes his biggest mark this season, but Christian also has high upside at linebacker. He's a definite D1 prospect with P4 potential as well, who colleges are going to want to get in on early.

2028 University ATH [player_tooltip player_id='1292038' first='Brody' last='Kehler'] was one of the most productive freshmen on varsity last season for the Hawks and should develop into a D1 prospect in two different sports. He joined the family business of becoming a state wrestling champion as a freshman this winter and is an all-around athlete who has a bright future as a football prospect, too. Kehler will get the bulk of his work at running back on offense and linebacker on defense, but can produce at a high level as a pass catcher and as a returner on special teams as well. He's a gifted playmaker, a trait that comes naturally to him, and has a great feel for what to do with the ball in his hands in every way that it gets there.

2028 Independence QB [player_tooltip player_id='1221843' first='Brock' last='Green'] emerged at quarterback for the Patriots as a freshman and has a very high ceiling as a prospect at that position. He's an imposing presence behind center with a large frame that translates to arm strength. Green produced in his first season at the high school level and put some very good things on film that D1 programs are going to like as he continues to develop. He throws one of the best deep balls in the state, regardless of class year, and has impressive arm talent for his age. If Green can sure up his lower body mechanics and throw off a stronger base more consistently without relying so heavily on his upper body, his ability will climb even higher.

Unfortunately, there's not much game film out there of 2028 Parkersburg DB/WR [player_tooltip player_id='1624445' first='Javel' last='Chandler'], but we know he's going to be one of the top prospects in this class. He'll be a future D1 prospect who's capable of playing on either side of the ball in college with the raw athleticism that he has. Chandler is also a long athlete in the 6'3 range, which may cause him to flip to WR in the rankings down the road, depending on how he produces there. He totaled 55 tackles and 3 interceptions as a freshman for the Big Reds and doubles as a standout on the track team. Once he produces some game tape, expect colleges to begin poking around.

The defending state champions are sure to have a bevy of athletes to hand the ball off to this season, but Myers has a very high ceiling as a prospect and will demand attention and touches. With his size, frame, and physical traits, Myers is another confident future D1 prospect with P4 potential if he continues to develop.

Being 7th overall and the #3 quarterback in the class with a D1 offer to his name already speaks to how talented this 2028 class is shaping up to be with Bluefield QB [player_tooltip player_id='1166648' first='Max' last='Simpson']. East Tennessee State extended Simpson his first offer earlier this summer after a strong camp showing, and you can see why D1 programs already like him. The second half of his freshman season was telling once the offense opened up more and Simpson earned his coach's trust. He may throw the prettiest ball at this juncture among a very talented quarterback class, and he is mechanically sound for his age. Simpson will grab G5 and P4 attention in the future if he continues this progression year after year.

He's an overall athlete who they utilized in a variety of ways on offense with 1,000 all-purpose yards, but Lambert's future as a prospect is likely at linebacker. At 6'3 215 and moving the way that he does, Lambert has a very high ceiling at that position. He may end up being their top running back this season and is going to be a top name to know moving forward. Okonkwo is your classic scatback with a ton of juice with the ball in his hands. He was moving at a much different pace than everyone else on the field in his JV film, and is a very fluid athlete laterally as well. Okonkwo will be a future dynamic playmaker on varsity, which we should begin to see this season. D1 programs will want to follow his progression closely.

He already has the early size that will catch college attention, and will continue to develop his technique and athleticism as he gets older. Expect him to make his mark on varsity this season among a loaded offensive line group that should be the best in the state, with several D1 prospects among them that will get early eyes on Avery.
