We have a good thing going at PrepRedzone, and we've been lucky to have been at a number of inaugural college football program camps around the Upper Midwest, the latest of which came out of the beautiful Fox Cities region of Wisconsin at the first-ever UW-Oshkosh Lake Show Mega Camp. For a first time college camp, the UWO Mega Camp was easily one of the most popular and well-attended camps of the Midwest's Summer Camp SZN, with over 550 athletes descending on DIII powerhouse UW-Oshkosh from all around the United States and FBS, FCS, DII, DIII, and NAIA programs all in attendance to scout some 2026, 2027, and 2028 athletes all around the gridiron. With plenty of Upper Midwest beef in the trenches, the Lake Show Mega Camp was also represented with a pleasantly surprising amount of speed, big-bodied skills, and explosiveness, and PrepRedzone is excited to bring you the exclusive coverage from the event. Anyone else who says they were there is lying! With this many prospects in one place, the three PRZ scouts were divided in who and where he were scouting, so I mostly watched the Big Boys in the trenches, but I was able to spot some big-time athletic talent from the Upper Midwest that really made out heads turn. Check out PRZOLiver's Skill Standouts from the inaugural UW-Oshkosh Lake Show Mega Camp, below.

My biggest winner from the UW-Oshkosh Lake Show Mega Camp, Williams was the lone skill player to earn the DII offer from Kansas-based Washburn University, a game-changer of a program in terms of NIL, community involvement, facilities, recruiting staff, and competition. Long, explosive, and twitchy, Williams could win at the LOS or at the top of the route, as well as at the catch point, where his vertical ability, ball-tracking skills, and length created a massive catch radius. Williams won his 1v1 reps in a variety of ways on Friday at UW-Oshkosh.

I sprinted over to the WR/DB 1v1s after concluding my OL/DL evals, and Shipman was already locked in, focused, and lethally effective against a good group of DBs up in Oshkosh. Shipman's body control was outstanding, especially at the catch point, where he could perfectly time his jumps to play the ball in the air as well as twist and contort his body to reel in back-shoulders and misthrows all around his area. Also possessed strong contested catch capability, ball skills, as mentioned, and smooth route running ability that had CBs guessing. Good showing during competition by the Eau Claire North product.

I pulled up at the end of 1v1s at the UW-Oshkosh Lake Show Mega Camp and watched Carter go to work. Coming out of a program known for producing athletes like Rufus King, Carter backed up the hype, displaying one of the best press-man skillsets in attendance, with timing and physicality at the LOS, a ton of burst out of his breaks, and consistent eye discipline. Carter was lock down once he got in-phase with a WR, and he did a great job of staying patient and not overcommitting on a wideout's initial break.

The top performer out of the QB group was representing the home state of Wisconsin and the Madison suburbs, Effertz came in at a verified 6'3, 205, catching out eyes during the dynamic warmup of the inaugural UW-Oshkosh Lake Show Mega Camp and transitioning well into testing, indy, and 1v1 competition. Went nearly 30" in the vert and popped off a 4.9 40, but Effertz really began to light it up during 1v1s thanks to that talented right arm of his. The Whitnall High School rising senior rose to the competition and spotlight and was locked in, comfortable, and relaxed, helping him to sling the rock around like it was a backyard football game on a Sunday afternoon. The pinpoint precision when working the ball vertically and to the deep third of the field particularly stood out, as did his smooth, effortless, snappy release, and the timing, velocity, and touch were all on display as he won 1v1 rep after 1v1 rep while putting his wideouts in great positions to succeed. Effertz threw out a couple beautiful back-shoulder balls on deep comebacks and fades that especially caught my attention. The hosting Titans became Wisconsin's QB2 first offer after the camp.

When he was consistent with his eye discipline, he had the ability to stay with anyone, as he got out of his breaks quickly, was strong in his press and with subtle punches and hand fighting to knock WRs off their marks, and was physical at the catch point. Took a ton of reps and did a great job against a variety of different WRs. Hope to see him again on the camp trail this summer.
