One of the most talented passers in the state joins the state. The arm talent is off the charts for the big framed QB. He could make every throw necessary with power behind it. Tanner also separated himself with some impressive production on the ground. This was a special talent to watch develop through high school. Good luck on the baseball diamond at the next level, Tanner!

The big arm, dual sport standout will be back this fall and looking to continue to build an impressive career. He set his school record in passing TDs last fall and returns some of those receiving weapons for this fall. Tanner is going to be one of the top uncommitted guys to watch this fall.

Tanner has put together a great offseason. We have had several PRZ scouts watch him throw live and every one of them has raved about his size, arm strength, and efficient mechanics. The incoming senior is coming off a very productive junior campaign, showing that the traits that stood out at camp actually translate to the field.
Tanner has earned offers from Jamestown, UW- Oshkosh and is also a very talented baseball player on top of the QB success and talent. The Whitnall standout earned QB2 for a reason. No doubt he is going to be a massive steal for a program.

Another outstanding arm talent in attendance was the 6’3″ 205 lbs incoming senior,

. Tanner was able to stand out from the crowd early and often. First it was with the superior frame that looks like that of a collegiate starter. The pocket passer was another recruit that had a lot of buzz and interest while discussing with the coaches in attendance. Watching the QBs work together quickly allowed Tanner to separate himself. His live arm is able to drive the ball with power to any level of the field when needed. The big man also has great control over his touch when he needs to take some off to hit a window. Effertz works from a really good base. His feet are quick and able to reset and get the ball out quickly. Tanner has the talent to be a high level recruit on the football field and even the baseball diamond.

The collection of QB talent was off the charts. Coaches were coming up to me throughout the day talking about and asking about several of the kids in the group. In the end, though, it was Whitnall’s

who established himself as the premier talent of the group from start to finish. It further verifies what we have been preaching here at Prep Redzone WI. The 2026 QB is a special talent.
Tanner brings an elite blend of size, arm strength, touch/accuracy, and mechanics to the position. The junior is able to make every throw on the field, and he can put the required velocity on the ball needed to win the rep. Our QB coaches were dialing up route concepts and breaking down the velocity they wanted on the ball and where they wanted the ball to be thrown to. Tanner was able to step in over and over and use pinpoint accuracy to put the ball where it had to be. It didn’t matter if it was just inside the hash on a post route, 12 yards to the sideline on a deep out and on a rope, or dropping it over the shoulder on a corner route. It was up there with the best we have seen at a PRZ WI Showcase from start to finish. Effertz is a kid you need to watch throw live, and you need to bump him up your recruiting boards because he isn’t high enough wherever you currently have him.

Great to see that I will have another chance to watch the talented QB out of Whitnall this Sunday! The junior QB doesn’t have a ton to prove. Instead it’s more verification of his talent. From the elite frame to the big, accurate arm. Tanner is going to come out, continue to push for QB1 in this Class, and get better along the way. Tanner just recently earned his first offer from UW-Oshkosh. I can’t wait to see things continue to heat up for the talented passer. This is definitely an athlete I will be watching closely.

. Tanner is in a battle for QB1 in the state and similar to Patrick, Tanner turned that elite talent into exceptional production. Tanner was Top 25 in yards, Top 15 in TDs, and Top 10 in yards/game. His official stat line is 2,098 yards, 27 TDs, and 233.1 yds/game. Tanner has a no-doubt, FBS level arm. He can fire it on a line almost to any spot on the field. Tanner has shown great command over his ball placement to every level of the field, highlighted by his 64% completion percentage. Tanner can make every throw on the field and do it with accuracy. Don’t miss out on this kid.

We have covered Tanner a ton. I will link more in-depth breakdowns that have been recently posted for all to check out. But we couldn’t write this article and not start with the extremely talented QB. It is only a matter of time until a program extends an offer when they decide they want a QB with elite size, arm strength to open up the entire field, accuracy to attack the entire field, mobility inside and outside the pocket, and the pocket presence and poise to lead a team in big moments. Can’t wait to see who the first team will be that wants those traits in their QB room. More articles including Tanner are linked below!
