Minnesota's 2026 outdoor track & field season has been rockin'! Per usual, PRZMN is seeing multi-sport standouts make a name for themselves sprinting, jumping, and throwing, sometimes at an elite level, and it's worth mentioning that Minnesota is still currently home to one of the best multi-sporters in the nation in Triton's Pierce Peterson. The future Virginia Tech Hokies' TE, while coming in at 6'5, 210, has gone 10.71 in the 100M dash, 2:00.68 in the 800 (broke a school record from 1996), 6'10" in the high jump, and 47.24 in the 400M (#1 in MN, 39th-best in the country this spring), so make sure you bask in the elite athleticism while we have it. However, Minnesota's multi-sport, track & field scene is in good hands with some of these up-and-coming throwers. Get to know them below!

--

A potential superstar in the recently-updated 2028 class rankings, Alexandria's [player_tooltip player_id='1695510' first='Adrian' last='Miles'] has put up the biggest, best, and most significant throwing numbers of any Minnesotan this spring outdoor season. We've seen verified track & field times, particularly with throwing, significantly catapult the stock Minnesota prep football prospects upwards in recent cycles, with Wayzata's [player_tooltip player_id='1368410' first='Eli' last='Diane'] and Forest Lake's Howie Johnson being perfect examples, but Miles has somehow bested those aforementioned studs' shot put and discus PRs this outdoor season as a young sophomore!

Coming in at a reported 6'4, 250+, Miles has produced a shocking 60'5.25" shot put on April 28th at the Alexandria Relays for a school record, which is linked below. He then followed it up with a 185'0" discus on May 12th at the B Lohrman Invite, making them the top throws in their event in Minnesota this spring (I believe). The power, balance, flexibility, and explosiveness involved in high level track and field throws strongly correlates to college football success, so Midwest, nay, national OL/DL collegiate coaches should be reaching out to this young man, especially with the Land of 10K Lakes' tradition of front-seven products.

Miles, who primarily plays 3T for the 5A heavyweight Cardinals, posted 38 tackles, 6 TFLs, 1 sack in 2025 for 9-2 Alexandria in 2025, and the 250+ lber. looks bendy and flexible at his size and fires out of his stance with solid pad level for his height, without playing too high. Miles can impressively drop his hips and maintain his balance through contact, and his strong, active hands make it difficult for OL to get hands on and get control. Miles displays a great base through contact and can hold a gap through an attempted double team impressively, and he can unlock hips and win 1v1 pass rushes in a variety of ways. The Alexandria product cuts tight off OL's backside, demonstrates a good motor and showed he can pursue and chase down ball carriers all around the box and to the sideline when necessary, and suffocates RBs and QBs at the contact point. Not a lot of wasted overall movement in the big man, both in his footwork and hand usage, and Miles shows some pass-rushing juice and can generate pressure from the interior of the defensive line. I'll be interested to see if Alex plans on playing Miles on the OL at all this year, as well as which side of the LOS colleges see Miles playing on in a few years. Tons to get excited about here, folks!

https://twitter.com/AdrianMile20764/status/2049324882924564690

A newer name to the PRZMN 2027 Big Board, Le Center High School and Tri-City United's football team has a talented multi-sporter in DL [player_tooltip player_id='2117134' first='Corday' last='Freeman'], who has been putting up some eye-catching numbers throwing the shot put this spring. PRing with a 54'4 shot put toss on April 20th at the MRC Track Meet, Freeman is showcasing some high-level explosiveness and overall athleticism after breaking his own school record on the toss last month.

Freeman also has some serious juice on the gridiron, where he rockets off the snap like there's a fuse attached to his rear end and is a splash-play impact producer from the interior of the DL. The 230ish-pounder displays pass rushing juice and naturally works for the turnover, successfully I may add, as you can see for yourself in his junior highlights. Freeman can fly into the backfield before a play, and especially an elongated run concept, can fully develop, and he displays strong hands, physical and aggressive fight to disengage from bigger OL, and violence as a tackler. Freeman also demonstrates lateral twitch, but mostly wins on his get-off and general play speed in his 2025 highlights. No offers right now, but what a sleeper in the 507!

https://twitter.com/corday130/status/2047482852892152278

A fantastic two-way 2028 lineman from the 507 and Faribault High School, [player_tooltip player_id='898254' first='Bitan' last='Gatwech'] has retained his top-tier rankings hold in the latest PRZMN 2028 Update. With tape that absolutely pops, as well as a plethora of physically dominant highlights on both sides of the ball from the 2025 season, and to sweeten the pot, he's showing some noteworthy success during this current outdoor track & field season. The Faribault Falcons' sophomore posted a 49'07" shot put May 5th at the Section 1AA Section True Team meet and earlier in the season threw a 129'6" discus toss at the Faribault Big 9 Triangular 2 on April 21st. If he can cross that 50' threshold as a sophomore he is really going to put college programs on notice, but schools are already well aware of the talented 2028, just check his followers on Twitter.

As an LT, Gatwech opens his OL tape with a Michael Oher/Blindside-esque run block where he runs his feet and bullies the DL so hard he end ups pancaking him five yards deep into his bench. And in thunderous fashion, I may add. Things get better from there, as he completely flattens defenders at any opportunity. Nasty finisher who makes sure you feel his full weight, and feel it violently, at any given opportunity. Plus, Gatwech is impressively balanced, fluid, and nimble on tape. Strong punch and doesn't seem to give even an inch of ground in pass protection at the contact point, and he's a real bully on the gridiron. Nothing dirty, but he asserts himself physically and really beats down opponents throughout four quarters of a ball game. His crushing strength can easily finish simple down blocks with noticeable force, and he flies into the second level like a bat out of hell and can easily corral LBs in space with frightening ease. Once he gets his hands on it's game over, and there's also noticeable body control throughout his tape. Gatwech is one of the most physical OL in Minnesota going into next season, regardless of class.

As a DL, which generally sees Gatwech align as a 5T, sometimes from a two-point stance and sometimes with his hand in the ground, the 280 lber. displays frightening closing speed for his size and can ragdoll ball carriers once he gets those giant paws on them. As standup EDGE and traditional 5T with his hands in the ground, the Falcons' mauler can get skinny and shows some noticeable and effective twitch, easily shocks and sheds OTs at first contact, and demonstrates a great get-off. Plus, Gatwech blocked nearly double-digit PATs in 2025. What a talent Faribault has on their hands in the 2028 class!

https://twitter.com/0bitan/status/1982176046658007183

A new name to the PRZMN radar just in time for a big introduction to the 2028 Big Board, Stewartville's throwing team, as well as strength and conditioning program, is really flexing their muscle with sophomore Ryan Erie. Backed by verified, legitimate athletic numbers from the recent TrainingHAUS Combine, Erie is a heckuva athlete, coming in at 6'1.5”, 232 lbs. with a 76” wing. He popped off a 27” vert, 8'8 broad, 12 reps at 225 pounds on the bench press, 4.70/4.71 shuttle, 7.82 L-drill, and 4.80 and 4.93 in the 40. Plus, this spring, Erie has posted a 48'10" in the shot put, as well as an 11.85 100M to sweeten the proverbial athletic pot.

Sadly, only one rep of film is publicly available for Erie, so I think it's safe to say that the Stewartville 2028 is on breakout watch for the 2026 season!

https://twitter.com/Ryanerie2028/status/2051276826241110435

We got some recent commitment news out of the 2027 class! Although it's early, it's never a bad idea to lock down a scholarship roster spot if things feel right, and I always like to see recruiting pipelines continue. We got both of these themes going here as Lakeville North's rising senior OL [player_tooltip player_id='2164788' first='Brayden' last='Strong'] commits to Minnesota-Duluth, whose football team has been home to a boatload of Panther grads over the last decade+. The newest Bulldog commit is also making some noise this spring throwing for the Lakeville North T&F team, as he PRed with a 46'7.5" shot put at both the 3AAA Section True Team meet as well as the Class AAA True Team Wild Card meet, both held earlier this month.

The Lakeville North LT displays a good first step off the snap, and he fires off the ball explosively and plays with good overall pad level for his size. The bend is especially noticeable, as well as impressive, and Strong can can easily combo and climb to the second level thanks to his balance and quickness. The 245 lber. is laterally agile, displays good leg drive post-contact, and is experienced in pass pro against 5A competition. A big offseason in the weight room is really going to help Strong in terms of finishing blocks and asserting himself physically, but the tools and athleticism are obvious in the 6A standout OT. Good pickup by the Bulldogs here to kick off their 2027 commitment class early.

https://twitter.com/BraydenStrong27/status/2054600010017161222

Representing the St. Clair/Mankato Loyola co-op and the Class AA ranks, 2027 [player_tooltip player_id='1550578' first='Christian' last='Barker'] has a lot going for him going into the summer camp circuit. With impressive size at around 6'4, 260 lbs., Barker posted some eye-popping stats from 2025 including 19 TFLs, 5 sacks, 69 total tackles, and 2 FF, as well as starting on both sides of the ball for the Spartans. The two-way OT/DE dynamo, who was offered by St. Norbert's College in April, has been tearing it up this outdoor track & field season too, throwing a 47'6.5" shot put at the NRHEG Track and Field meet on April 30th, as well as adding a 151'2" discus at the Waseca High School Meet #2 on May 12th.

Barker, as a DL and mainly as a 5T, displays effective length, a good get-off, some strength at the point of attack, and impressive overall play speed and acceleration. He's also a violent tackler who can unlock his hips in 1v1 rush settings. As an OL, where I think Barker better projects to the next level, the 260 lber. played every spot on the OL in 2025, but he was impressive as an LT, where he proved himself to be a physical finisher with good balance. He could polish up the pass set a bit, but Barker shows he can gain both depth and width in pass protection, and his length is an asset at the contact point and especially in pass protection. I could see this dude making some money this Summer Camp SZN!

https://twitter.com/ChristianBark68/status/2050337863363862580

One of the higher upside 2027 OL in Minnesota, Big Lake's Evan Blackman is setting himself up well for a productive Summer Camp SZN. At a massive - and verified - 6'6, 270 with a 76" wing and 9.5" hands, Blackman has produced a 47'9.5" shot put at the Monticello Invitational on April 21st, and he added a 124'1" discus at the same meet that very day. Blackman was offered by Sioux Falls on April 12th, and his brother plays at St. Olaf, so it's safe to say he's bound to play college football as well.

On tape, Blackman has good reps as both an offensive and defensive lineman. From an interior DL spot, Blackman displays a good get-off and proved he can be a disruptive force from the DL in 2025, as he can fly into the backfield before a play can fully develop. From his OT spot, Blackman can reach DEs to set the edge in run support, shows good leg drive post-contact, and can easily physically overwhelm opponents thanks to his length and sheer size at the contact point. He's a physical finisher who is impressive in space and can easily corral and roundup second and third level defenders when climbing. Lots to work with in the giant Big Lake product. Keep an eye on him this summer!

https://twitter.com/Evanb70fb/status/2046933016866345335

Farmington has a very promising OL going into 2025. Always a keynote of Class 6A Big School on-field success, the Tigers will be led in the trenches by rising senior [player_tooltip player_id='1972052' first='Rocco' last='Fulk']. Coming in around 6'3-6'4 and 300 pounds, Fulk is already seeing his hard work come to fruition this spring, as Jamestown, Bemidji State and Minnesota-Duluth have already reached out with offers going into the summer, and I'm sure more NSIC and DII suitors will join him after seeing some of his track throws this spring. Fulk popped off a 46'4 shot put at the Section 1AAA Section True Team meet on May 5th and again at the Class AAA True Team Wild Card meet three days later, and added a 155'11" discuss, which he threw twice at those same two aforementioned track meets.

A big-time bruiser at the point of attack, and especially as a run blocker, the Farmington RT flattens defenders at the contact point and displays lead in his hands and good pad level. Fulk hits DL like he's attacking a blocking sled. Gets right up-and-under an opponent's chest plate, drives his feet with intention, and is big enough and strong enough to move mass against even the largest 6A DL competition. Fulk also does a good job of comboing, climbing to the second level, and generally changing direction in space when called up. Looks like a good athlete with a ton of strength and power in his game. Can't wait to see this dude this summer, I smell a rankings bump coming!

https://twitter.com/HussungLogan/status/2052229636017283251

Honorable Mentions ('27 standouts with no film)

57'9" shot put on May 5th at the Section 1AA Section True Team meet.
