Playmaker Standouts From The Hoosier Combine Series

We're taking a look at the playmakers on the offensive side of the ball who looked good yesterday at the combine!    Taylor is one of those guys who just has "it." He's a great athlete with natural hands, can line up in different spots, and make plays wherever he's asked. There's a smoothness to his game that's hard to teach, and he plays with confidence. The versatility stands out, but it's the feel for the game that makes you think he could be something special down the road.     Irving came in a little hesitant, but once things got going, his confidence started to show. He's got a long frame, some twitch to his game, and does a good job staying active with his eyes and hands through contact. He plays with quiet confidence and doesn't need to talk to make an impression. There's something about his presence that stood out, and the more reps he got, the more I liked what I saw.     Durham is a big, physical back who impressed with how well he moved for his size. He looked good in agility work and showed he can bend and change direction without being stiff. But where he stands out is going downhill. He's got the build to finish runs and wear down a defense, and he's not afraid to lower the shoulder and drive through contact. He's a back with tools that translate.     Lannan continues to check a lot of boxes. He's physically impressive with a strong frame and moves well for his size. He runs sharp inside routes and has a knack for creating space. With his hands and size, he looks like a true X receiver but some schools may even see long-term potential as a pass-catching tight end. Either way, he's a reliable target who knows how to get open and win his matchup.     Johnson brings a strong frame to the position and isn't afraid to use it. He was physical throughout and showed he can hold his own as a blocker in the run game. With his size and strength, he's a natural red zone mismatch and someone who can win contested throws. He's got the tools to be a reliable presence both as a blocker and a target downfield and I think could be ready this year for a big role.     It was my first time seeing Ewald, and he made a strong impression. He's got quick feet and smooth cuts, with a clean burst off the line that gets him into his route fast. He caught everything thrown his way and didn't flinch in traffic. There's a lot to like with how naturally he moves and how easily the game seems to come to him.
