One of several impressive Class of 2028 recruits to make the trip to Carmel was Tipton High School outside linebacker and running back Zane Durham. Durham is a really rocked-up prospect who loves the weight room. At running back, he flashes the ability to makes defenders miss in space during the tag drill. On defense, he is a solid outside linebacker with a great frame, nose for the ball and squares up effectively at the point of contact. I expect him to develop into one of the state’s top 2028 prospects with a strong junior year.

Durham has a strong combination of size and athleticism. He has good short space quickness and showed the ability to make guys miss in the tackle drills. In the passing 1v1’s Durham showed the ability to make plays out of the back field. He also showed the ability to line up out wide and run crisp routes and get separation.

Durham is a big, physical back who impressed with how well he moved for his size. He looked good in agility work and showed he can bend and change direction without being stiff. But where he stands out is going downhill. He’s got the build to finish runs and wear down a defense, and he’s not afraid to lower the shoulder and drive through contact. He’s a back with tools that translate.

Durham got his feet wet some this year and did a decent job. He’s a versatile player and his future is wide open. Whether he’s carrying it, catching the ball, or playing defense, Durham has shown he can do it all. While he’s not refined yet, he’s on the field and gaining confidence which is what you want to see as a freshman. He’s smart and learning.
