My first time in Grand Forks was a memorable one, as hundreds of Midwest, national, and even international prep football prospects descended on the University of North Dakota for the Fighting Hawks' Flagship Camp #1 to perform in front of dozens of college coaches and sharpen their craft on the state-of-the-art gridiron turf of the Frederick "Fritz" D. Pollard Jr. Athletic Center. Easily one of the best camps of the summer, PrepRedzone has your exclusive coverage of the top performers, standouts, new names, stock risers, and sleepers who competed on that beautiful Thursday morning in Grand Forks. Up next: Session 2's All-Camp Team! First Team, Second Team, and Third Team QBs, RBs, WRs, TEs, LBs, and DBs, only for the eyes of PrepRedzone's readers! Your exclusive recap of North Dakota's Flagship Camp #1 is below!

2027s, 2028s, 2029s: make sure you check out North Dakota on the camp trail next summer!

--

Quarterback

First Team:

[player_tooltip player_id='1491934' first='Joseph' last='Mapson'] (Andover, MN) 2026. 6'1, 176 lbs.

The undoubted QB1 of North Dakota's first Flagship Camp of the summer, Andover, Minnesota's Joe Mapson has been one of the state's hottest names and stock risers this offseason, rising up the rankings like he's on a mission and with no sign of slowing down. We already have had some good exposure to Mapson, both padded and unpadded, and we know he's one of the best athletes in every QB group he's apart of, and he once again proved he's a true dual-threat up in Grand Forks. Mapson, who is always great when throwing on the move and on the run, and his footwork in all types of drill work was consistent and smooth through the hours of coaching. Mapson also turned up the heat during 1v1s, possessing velocity and RPMs on throws all around the field, and he was the most accurate QB in attendance throughout every portion of the Session. Mapson was seemingly hitting every throw while leading his wideouts open and putting the rock only where his wideouts could get it. Another day, another strong in-person showing from the 2026 gunslinger. This kid always brings it.

Second Team:

Will Brookings (Rosemount, MN) 2027. 6'2.5", 175 lbs.

Someone's been grinding! Rosemount's rising junior quarterback Will Brookings has had a great offseason, as he really impressed me and fellow PRZ scout [player_tooltip player_id='1292716' first='Nate' last='Wahl'], both due to the strides he's made since a freshman and overall performance up in Grand Forks for the North Dakota Flagship Camp. Tall and poised in the pocket with strong command and presence for his age, Brookings will really slinging the pigskin around over the border, with a tight, consistent spiral, good timing on his releases, and accuracy to all three levels of the field. Brookings threw one of the better deep balls of the QB group, with a strong arm and the ability to drop the ball into the bucket without a streaking wideout having to slow down or adjust his path significantly. I'll be eagerly checking in on the QB battle in Rosemount this summer.

Third Team:

Wyatt Frey (Lawrence-Nelson, NE) 2027. 6'5, 212 lbs.

A big-time athlete coming out of some of the smallest towns in Nebraska, rising junior QB/ATH Wyatt Frey is yet another installment of a huge, freaky-type athlete coming out of the Nebraska and Kansas smallest classifications of football. Yes, he was playing QB, and he showed off a huge arm and a couple pretty tear-drop throws for good measure, but holy cow did he blow the roof off the testing portion of the event and it's hard ot to think about him potentially playing TE or DE at the next level. Heck, his Twitter bio says he plays safety for Lawrence-Nelson, so I sure have an idea of what kind of versatility we're dealing with here. No offers yet!

[player_tooltip player_id='1683410' first='Bo' last='Schwartz'] (Brainerd, MN) 2028. 5'11, 185 lbs.

Whether I can help it or not, my eyes continue to find Brainerd rising sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='1683410' first='Bo' last='Schwartz']. Could be the well-developed frame, could be the flashes of arm talent that come out of his well-tuned arm, or it could be some of his impressive throws during 1v1 competition, but I always seem to notice this kid on the 2025 summer camp trial. I'm putting my hypothetical money on Schwartz winning the Brainerd QB1 job this summer.

Carson Dixon (Basehor-Linwood, KS) 2026. 6'1, 183 lbs.

Another obvious top performer out of the QB group in attendance for the first North Dakota Flagship Camp of the summer, Dixon was both one of the most accurate QBs and one of the most athletic, pumping out a 4.65 40-yard-dash to go along with a strong showing during 1v1s and a consistent ability to push the ball to all three levels of the field.

[player_tooltip player_id='1590674' first='Reed' last='Kurzweg'] (West Fargo, ND) 2026. 5'11, 174 lbs.

A local boy hailing from the ever-talented Fargo area, Kurzweg threw a couple perfect, and I mean perfect, deep balls during 1v1 and skelly competition with WRs and DBs, and his ball placement and command of the rock was in the top tier of the QB group. Should be a big senior season for the Packers' signal-caller.

Running Back

First Team:

Julian Beckstrand (Barnum, MN) 2026. 5'11.5", 179 lbs.

One of the best parts about the summer camp grind it getting up to geographic regions that are normally far less accessible during the fall season and seeing talented prospects you normally aren't exposed to. I'm not too big to admit when I mess up, and I've sure dropped the ball on not getting Barnum High School's stud RB Julian Beckstrand on the PRZ rankings and radar sooner. A long, lean, and cut up near 6'er with a significant amount of room to fill in, Beckstrand went 4.56 and 4.57 in the 40, 4.50 and 4.53 in the shuttle, and 30'4.5" inches in the triple broad jump for a fantastic showing during testing, and he was an eye-catcher during drills as well. Fluid, sudden & smooth cutting and stick-and-plant ability, and is able to drop his hips and burst out of his breaks and cuts with noticeable ease and power. Also displayed the ability to easily win vertically as a deep threat against LBs in 1v1 coverage, as well as a comfortable route runner with quickness and juice at the top of the route. Overall balanced, athletic, high-upside skillset with his best football in front of him. Gotta get this dude on the ranking's Big Board ASAP.

Julian Beckstrand - Barnum

[player_tooltip player_id='1314732' first='Beckett' last='Price'] (St. Mary's Central, ND) 2027. 5'11, 178 lbs.

Only a rising junior, St. Mary's Central High School RB [player_tooltip player_id='1314732' first='Beckett' last='Price'] is bringing some serious athleticism out of the Bismarck area in 2027. One of the best athletes and testers at the first North Dakota Flagship Camp of the summer, Price is one of my favorite finds of the 2025 summer camp trail, as his athleticism and twitch were some of the best and most memorable I've seen in a while. Owning maybe the best change of direction ability of any camper in Grand Forks that day, Price can cut on a dime, was excitingly sudden, and had explosiveness for days, not to mention he was working and hustling his butt off during drills and indy led by the UND coaching staff. Price also transitioned to 1v1s well, as he was able to easily create separation thanks to his footwork, and he showed soft hands that could catch the ball with consistency as well. Plus, I liked how he was tough through contact, burst out of his cuts as a route runner, and didn't allow LBs to square up or get hands on. I'll be closely eyeing the upcoming junior tape, as will the regional Missouri Valley competitors.

[player_tooltip player_id='1314732' first='Beckett' last='Price'] - St. Mary's Central 2027

Second Team:

[player_tooltip player_id='848928' first='Daevion' last='Simonsen'] (Sioux Falls Jefferson, SD) 2026. 5'8, 192 lbs.

There's been some special about the playmakers and skill recruits coming out of the Sioux Falls area lately, and rising senior RB Daevion Simonsen is yet another installment of the exciting trend of splash from the 605. Simonsen had very nimble feet and smooth COD ability, and was an asset out of the backfield thanks to his soft hands and body control when tracking and playing the ball in the air. The Jefferson High School playmaker had some good wins during 1v1s thanks to the route running ability.

Third Team:

Troy McWhorter (Ponderosa, CO) 2026.

Representing the Great State of Colorado, McWhorter was well liked by the local DII and DIII coaching staffs, and he was smooth during indy and positional drills, with light feet, suddenness, and a balanced skillset.

[player_tooltip player_id='1685067' first='Tobie' last='Serna'] (Centennial, MN) 2027. 5'10, 186 lbs.

A new find and big winner from the 2025 summer camp circuit, Centennial High School's [player_tooltip player_id='1685067' first='Tobie' last='Serna'] is poised for a breakout season in the Minnesota Big School ranks, and he's well-built and powerful, was sudden and showed off serious burst during drills, and was one of the quicker RBs in attendance. Another live eval, another mention by PRzMN for the rising junior tailback.

Wide Receiver

First Team:

[player_tooltip player_id='1300144' first='Max' last='Mannausau'] (Grand Forks Red River, ND) 2026. 6', 176 lbs.

A local boy with some legit game as a pass catcher, Mannausau's footwork was as effective as it was quick, and he was a good route runner who highlighted his reps but snatching the ankles and forcing the best CB in attendance to take a seat thanks to a filthy route out on the perimeter. Mannausau had some serious shake and power out of his cuts and was a fun watch at the North Dakota Flagship Camp who earned his fair share of wins throughout the afternoon.

[player_tooltip player_id='1612707' first='Nate' last='Streit'] (Holdingford, MN) 2026. 6'3, 175 lbs.

One of the biggest stock risers of Minnesota's 2025 summer camp circuit so far, Holdingford's [player_tooltip player_id='1612707' first='Nate' last='Streit'] has been working his tail off this offseason with noticeable effect. Now running in the 4.6s at a legit 6'3, the dynamic, two-way contributor was putting in serious work during 1v1s in Grand Forks, as his route running ability, length, and deep speed were a headache-and-a-half for DBs to try. and manage all session long. Streit could unlock his hips, power out of his breaks, and did a great job of stacking and then outrunning pursuing DBs eating his dust, and his body control, soft hands, and ball skills were an asset once the ball was in the air. Also did a great job of working back to the football and playing strong at the catch point. NSIC schools needs to get on notice!

[player_tooltip player_id='1314716' first='Paxton' last='Lyson'] (Dickinson, ND) 2027. 5'11.5", 151 lbs.

Reserved and physically modest, Dickinson rising junior WR Lyson absolutely lit the 1v1 portion of UND's Session 2 on fire. Light, nimble, and twitchy, Lyson used beautiful job steps and fakes to combine for some of the dirtiest releases at the LOS, and he had a rep wherein he put the helpless CB broken on his knees that ahd the North Dakota football players in attendance going absolutely bonkers. Effective, smooth, and one of the most natural route runners in attendance, Lyson eaned wins against some of the top CBs in Grand Forks and did so with explosive effect. Great job, young buck!

Second Team:

Bryce Schell (Bishop Verot, FL) 2026. 5'10, 145 lbs.

Definitely the most unassuming wideout of the Top Performers, things begin to make sense when you add in the context that Schell is from South Florida. Stepping up against larger, physical Midwest DBs, Schell brought the juice that the Sunshine State is known for, as he was nasty in his releases, setting up DBs for some filthy cuts that left CBs punching at air and panicking to catch up. He burnt some of the best DBs in attendance vertically, and tracked and played the ball beautifully in the air. Someone up north should get on this kid's recruitment ASAP.

Judeah Kniskern (West De Pere, WI) 2026. 6', 192 lbs.

Big, strong, and with an effective route running skillset behind him, Kniskern had DBs visibly nervous to line up against the West De Pere product during 1v1s. With some of the quickest and most intentional releases at the UND Flagship Camp, Kniskern could win vertically as well as cut off his routes suddenly, keeping DBs guessing while showing off his comfortability with the route tree. Wisconsin kids always seem prepared for the spotlights that come with the eummer camp grind.

Third Team:

Matt Dosch (Grand Forks Red River, ND) 2026. 6'2.5", 193 lbs.

Another local standout repping Red River High School at the North Dakota Flagship Camp, Dosch was an overall good route runner who made a beautiful back-shoulder snag against tight, contested coverage to highlight some body control for his size.

Brody Ruggles (St. Mary's Central, ND) 2026. 6', 134 lbs.

Needs to hit the weight room and dinner table hard, but Ruggles cut his routes off well, displayed sticky hands that caught everything that came in his vicinity, and hage some explosive downfield catches for good measure.

Joseph Foot (Longmont, CO) 2026. 6'2, 188 lbs.

Long, big-bodied, and with a ton of room to fill in, Foot, who ran in the low 4.7s in the 40, possessed rare COD skills and ability for his size and height, and was smooth and flexible and able to drop his hips when planting and cutting as a route runner and when changing direction in general. Wish he was more aggressive during 1v1s, both in the volume of reps he took and when he got to the line, but he's a good athlete and a big-time potential matchup nightmare as the X receiver.

Tight End

First Team:

[player_tooltip player_id='1255144' first='Jaxon' last='Bartkowicz'] (Holdingford, MN) 2026. 6'3'5, 212 lbs.

Holdingford High School showed up and showed out at the North Dakota Flagship Camp, with two big-time prospects balling out in all three phases of the event. Bartkowicz is ranked on PRzMN as an EDGE, but after his performance during 1v1s, I may be moving the rising senior, two-way contributor, and multi-sport standout to TE as his future collegiate projection. Bartkowicz was the deadliest TE as a route runner, with some serious juice at the top of the route, long arms that could reel in catches while fully extended, and the strength to finish catches through contact from sticky LBs. Great contested catch and 50/50 ball capability, little bit of twitch, and caught everything thrown his way during 1v1s. No one seemed to be able to contain him as a route runner. A late commitment to the Minnesota Gophers 2024 class, Amaliri is in the transfer portal as a bounceback and looked and tested the part of a B1G athlete at a legit 6'4, 224 lbs. with a near 6'8 wingspan and more room to fill in. Amaliri competed in both sessions of the UND Flagship Camp, so I'm combining his write ups for his two-session standout performance as both an EDGE and off-ball linebacker. In Session 1, you could tell that Amaliri was new to the technique at defensive line, but boy oh boy did he come alive during 1v1 pass rushing reps, where his athleticism shined in the spotlight and his get-off, length, twitch, and bend were lethal as a standup EDGE getting after the QB dummy. After taking a break to get some R&R, Amaliri merged back into the LB group and was noticeably more comfortable, as his outrageous length and long speed at his size allowed him to stay with RBs going vertically and always compete at the catch point. I hope this dude finds a home soon.

[player_tooltip player_id='1113072' first='Cash' last='Danner'] (Thompson, ND) 2026. 6'4, 217 lbs.

A local high school safety converting down to linebacker for the North Dakota Flagship Camp, Thompson High School's [player_tooltip player_id='1113072' first='Cash' last='Danner'] is one of the players I was looking forward to seeing most once I saw the stacked roster of talent that converged on Grand Forks. Danner, at a legit 6'4 with a ton of room to grow, was explosive during testing and drill work and was one of the best coverage LBs during 1v1s, to no one's surprise. Despite Danner still having to get used to the new technique of LB drops, Danner was still very effective in coverage, using a combination of length, physicality, and aggression to break up a ton of passes at the catch point, and he was able to flip his hips and change direction to stay around the hip pocket of streaking RBs, as well as close with pace out of his breaks. Danner was one of the most toolsy, versatile, and highest upside prospects in attendance. I'm stoked I got to see this kid on the summer camp trail in 2025.

[player_tooltip player_id='1113072' first='Cash' last='Danner'] - Thompson, ND

--

Kyler DePaepe (Spanish Springs, NV) 2026. 6'1, 218 lbs.

An easy pick for First Team All-Eye Test, DePaepe was the lone Nevada standout at North Dakota's Flagship Camp, and he put on very well for the Silver State, proving himself as the Top Dog amongst an impressive LB group that dropped down into Grand Forks earlier this month. DePaepe, at a strapping and now-verified 6'1, 215+, DePaepe was explosive during testing and drills, with strong, D1-worthy testing times and a ton of burst and explosiveness. He looked great during drill work, and his change of direction ability for size especially impressed. DePaepe was also memorable during 1v1s, as his heavy hands and physicality (legal physicality, I may add) at the top of the route and catch point had TEs shrinking into their pads at contact. During 1v1 pass pro reps against RBs, his ability to consistently shock & shed and play with a nasty edge, which also showed up during pass-coverage reps, was awesome to watch in Grand Forks. With an Ivy League roster spot from Cornell as well as some small school offers, it's safe to say this Nevada linebacker is firmly under-the-radar right now.

Kyler DePaepe - Spanish Springs

Second Team:

Jared Ibarra (Steele, TX) 2026. 6', 209 lbs.

A product of Colorado who moved to Texas for his senior year of high school, Ibarra was one of the most physical linebackers in attendance who loved to mix it up and pop pads during drill work against padded sleds as well as as unfortunate RBs who got in his way. Ibarra absolutely squared up and stuck a couple RBs during 1v1 padded pass pro reps against RBs, putting a few on their tail ends in embarrassing fashion. Ibarra also transferred the physicality to 1v1 coverage reps, where he used his hands well - and legally - at the top of the route and catch point to break up passes against large, long TEs. With a great frame, Gerkin popped off a 4.55 and 4.51 40, as well as two of the best triple broad jumps of the entire session. Gerkin also picked off a pass during 1v1s in electric fashion and did a good job of undercutting TEs at the catch point thanks to his quickness and burst. Northern Sun schools are very much involved with the Palmer outside 'backer.

Defensive Back

First Team:

Blayne Marshall (Blue Springs South, MO) 2026. After putting the camp on notice by blasting off a 4.6 40 to open up testing, Marshall routinely proved himself to be the Top Dog amongst the DB group and a walking seat belt out on the perimeter. From the first rep of the 1v1 session, Marshall walked up the LOS and confidently and effectively played press-man on every WR he came across in Grand Forks, playing lockdown man coverage despite taking by far the most amount of reps of any DB during 1v1s. Within the abundance of wins, Marshall couldn't have lost more than a couple of reps on the entire day, and his physical press was fun to watch during competition, as he was strong, showed good patience and timing, and used his hands very well at the LOS, the top of the route, and at the catch point. He was the perfect amount of handsy, and the Show-Me State product also displayed great hips, the top-end speed to allow him both to stay on top of WRs going vertical as well as play aggressively, as he knew he had proper makeup speed in his back pocket, and great instincts, occasionally running the rep for the WR and in fact, running it better. I thought he was in real contention for the UND offer that day, and although he didn't leave Grand Forks with the Fight Hawks offer, North Dakota should be watching the rising senior cornerback closely this fall. One of the better performances I've seen so far this summer.

Blayne Marshall - Blue Springs South 2026 DB

Brady Lee (La Crosse Aquinas, WI) 2027. Although I loved some of the trench warfare specialists during Session 1, my favorite Blugold of the day goes to rising junior Brady Lee. Tall, long, sleek, and fluid, Lee was a cool customer during competition and a smooth operator during testing, drills, positional indy, and 1v1s, possessing that "built different" play style that only shows up in elite athletes. Speaking of elite athleticism, Lee tested off the charts during testing, and he more than successfully transferred that high-end ability to when it really mattered, and that was competition under the bright lights on the recruiting trail. Playing man coverage both on the perimeter and out of the slot, Lee was able to press with both effectiveness and physicality, showing excellent technique, change of direction skills, and body control that showed up in a variety of ways during 1v1 competition. A dynamic athlete with more speed at the top end than anyone in attendance, Lee was able to play with noticeable aggression, and his loose hips, ball skills, and short-area quickness and twitch helped him stay in-phase with even the most explosive WRs in attendance. Also big, long, and physical enough to hold his own with larger TEs flexed out, Brady, shot out of his breaks like a missile, and he was able to record what seemed like double-digit worth of PBUs throughout the 1v1 session. This kid is going to blow up in 2025.

Brady Lee - LAX Aquinas

Second Team:

Charles Steer (Hawley, MN) 2027. SAF. 6'1, 173 lbs.

One of my favorite finds from the ongoing 2025 summer camp circuit, Hawley 2027 SAF Charles Steer made a huge debut on the PRzMN 2027 ranking's Big Board due to his performance at UND's first Flagship Camp of the summer. Coming out of a Hawley program right in the heart of Missouri Valley territory, Steer is a long, lean, 6'1, 173 lbs. with significant room to grow in, and he blasted onto everyone's radar during the 40s, popping off two of the best times of the ultra-loaded Big Dog group of upperclassmen and legit UND targets. Only a rising sophomore, Steer moved and competed like a seasoned senior as opposed to a player just entering his upperclassmen campaign of prep football, with a smooth backpedal, loose hips, and consistent technique who all-in-all never wasted movement or steps, especially when changing direction. Steer had the best "W" drill of the day amongst his DB peers, and he transitioned very well into 1v1s, showing up in a ton of impressive and different ways in coverage. Steer's deep speed and instincts combined to make a rangy and productive high safety, and in 1v1 man coverage out of the slot he was excellent in disrupting and breaking up pass attempts to the first and second level of the field. The 218 product had a couple physical PBUs through the 1v1 period of competition and also displayed comfortable ball skills and the ability to read, diagnose, and trigger on the football with lethal effect. Having come into Grand Forks having no idea about Steer, we can definitively say that finds like this are exactly why hitting the camp trail is important in the summers.

Charles Steer - Hawley

Ryan Schultz (Eau Claire Memorial, WI) 2026. While watching RBs during the beginning of the UND Flagship Camp Session 2 competition, I heard a bit of extracurriculars going on between the WRs and DBs, with Schultz right in the middle of things. With some hard-nosed energy now brewing between the two skill groups, Schultz set the tone for what a high-energy, exciting, and productive 1v1 session between the WRs and DBs, and he walked away as both a group favorite from his peers as well as one of the session's top performers. Although he took a couple of licks throughout the ebbs and flows of a high-rep, high-intensity 1v1 competition like this, Schultz did a great job of flushing things and bouncing back for more action. He produced some of the biggest and most explosive defensive efforts out of the DB group, with a couple great PBUs on both underneath and vertical routes, and he did a great job of getting out of his breaks smoothly and suddenly as well as playing with physicality. Good to see the Badger State show up well in North Dakota.

[player_tooltip player_id='1256239' first='Major' last='Ness'] (Barnesville, MN) 2026.
