2027 Rankings Update: Norcal's Top Rising Juniors

One of the top jumbo athletes California has to offer, the Cardinal Newman prospect is a no-brainer P4 defensive tackle prospect that should explode onto the scene this Fall and next off-season. He is extremely athletic and violent at the point of attack, shows he can two-gap and quickly reset the line while providing an interior pass rush as well. He snaps off the ball and is a high motor kid that also excels as a running back and is a natural runner with forward lean and is impossible to tackle in the open field. He checks into our updated rankings as a top 11 player at his position and inside the top 45 overall.     Cargill is one of the fastest prospects across the Northern California region, and should have a breakout Junior season for Cardinal Newman in 2025. He is a true deep threat play maker with a huge catch radius, strong hands in traffic and can win with high-point abilities at the point of attack. He is explosive with the ball in his hands and can make defenders miss in the open field and should see plenty of FBS offers come his way after his Junior season for this loaded Newman squad.     Jones-Drew checks into our rankings as the top running back in the class across California and is coming off a tremendous sophomore season campaign for the Spartans. He is a natural runner with forward lean, leg drive-through contact, start/stop abilities and looks for contact in the hole while showing tremendous contact balance and always falling forward. He has the speed to bounce it outside of tackles when needed and good vision and tight windows while able to make defenders miss both in space and in a hole. He is currently up to 10 offers and should be a 20+ offer kid by the time it's all said and done.     Young checks into our updated rankings of the top 30 player at his position, and is one of the top prospects across the bay area. He has the ideal length and frame for the safety position in college and has natural ball skills, closing speed and tremendous range at the third level. He is a highly instinctual prospect that recognizes plays quickly and excels in man and zone coverage downfield. He is technically sound and is a quick processor that is not afraid to come downhill and bang in the box when needed. He currently has offers from Stanford, Sacramento State, San Jose State and San Diego State.     Lata checked into our rankings as a top 30 player at his position across the defensive line in the 2027 class and has plenty of room for growth over the next two years. He is strong at the point of attack, plays with heavy hands and moves well for his size with some interior twitch and natural bend from the inside. Although a bit of a tweaner, he should fit nicely inside at the next level as he continues to pack on weight. Lata is a plus athlete that is technically sound and one of the best overall players in the loaded WCAL as we head into this Fall.
