Outstanding upside and potential for the dual sport athlete out of De La Salle (football/track). At 6’3” 180 lbs. he’s a long, physical CB who plays with toughness and physicality. Uses his length effectively in coverage to disrupt passing lanes and challenge receivers at the catch point. His quick feet and change of direction allow him to match movement and stay in phase to all areas of the field. His movement and change of direction are fluid being able to flip his hips, cover ground laterally, and recover with speed. Strong and aggressive tackler that brings heavy force by accelerating through contact with good forward momentum and leverage. Length and skillset make him a valuable asset against both the run and pass and will see him building on his four current D1 offers.
4 Offers: SDSU, San Jose State, Sacramento State, Stanford
Young checks into our updated rankings of the top 30 player at his position, and is one of the top prospects across the bay area. He has the ideal length and frame for the safety position in college and has natural ball skills, closing speed and tremendous range at the third level. He is a highly instinctual prospect that recognizes plays quickly and excels in man and zone coverage downfield. He is technically sound and is a quick processor that is not afraid to come downhill and bang in the box when needed. He currently has offers from Stanford, Sacramento State, San Jose State and San Diego State.
Young is coming off a solid second season campaign for the Spartans, and is one of the top young defensive back prospects across the region heading into the 2025 season. He has elite length and size for the position and will only continue to grow and develop over the next two seasons and his college career. He is a physical and natural athlete with tons of growth potential and upside at the next level and has been solid against some of the states top competition. He currently holds one offer from SDSU, and is another kid that should see a slew of others come in during the spring evaluation period next month.
