Jones-Drew checks into our rankings as the top running back in the class across California and is coming off a tremendous sophomore season campaign for the Spartans. He is a natural runner with forward lean, leg drive-through contact, start/stop abilities and looks for contact in the hole while showing tremendous contact balance and always falling forward. He has the speed to bounce it outside of tackles when needed and good vision and tight windows while able to make defenders miss both in space and in a hole. He is currently up to 10 offers and should be a 20+ offer kid by the time it’s all said and done.

A pure football player with dynamic athleticism and a wide skillset to be an impact player on both sides of the ball. At RB, he presses the LOS quickly getting downhill to attack open running lanes with speed. Runs with good leverage/strength flashing high level contact balance and leg drive at the POA to break tackles while maintaining forward momentum. Plus field vision and instincts to create lanes and work to space with quick lateral cuts and a sustained burst to breakaway. Possesses the physical running style to pick up tough yardage between the tackles and has the speed to turn the corner to the outside. Showed great ability on defense as well throughout his sophomore season at OLB. Can play all three downs with his effectiveness as a run filler and dropping back into coverage. Plays hard with a high motor to redirect and chase sideline to sideline. Recruitment is rapidly rising with six D1 offers to date.

Jones-Drew is already one of the top running back prospects across the state of California in this 2027 class, and put together a very nice sophomore season for the Spartans. He currently holds offers from UCLA, Cal and Utah and should see a slew of others come in this off-season as he gears up for his Junior year. He is an explosive and compact runner that gets behind his pads, shows natural forward lean and leg drive through contact while also flashing vision in tight windows, start/stop abilities and downfield seperation in the clear.

Jones-Drew sealed the edge nicely from the outside backer spot and closes to the ball very quickly. His explosiveness prevented some possible big runs for Mater Dei and he is a strong tackler.

Jones-Drew is one of the fastest rising running backs across the region and has been dominant from the backfield for the top team in Northern California. He is a natural ball carrier with a strong initial burst/short area twitch, open field speed and shows good contact balance through the hole while able to make defenders miss at all three levels. He has been a big reason for the Spartans success so far this fall and has given a strong preview into what is to come in the future with still two years left in his high school career. Last week, he picked up offers from both the hometown Cal Bears and the university of Utah and should have a very busy Spring with schools coming by and offering.
