The 2025 Spring PRZ WI Showcase is in the books! What an event it was! 100+ athletes came out to Raabe Stadium, home of the Wisconsin Lutheran College football team. They performed in the combine, individual drill work, and one on one battles vs their counterparts on the field. Each position at a PRZ WI Showcase is led by a college coach or a couple coaches, and at the end of the day they submit their top athletes. Those athletes get to battle it out in the Best vs Best reps to end the camp and in the end we crown MVPs. With all the action done, and the honors given out, it is time to break down what led to every athlete's success. So let's dive right into our week of recapping the event with a look at our 7 MVPs!

The collection of QB talent was off the charts. Coaches were coming up to me throughout the day talking about and asking about several of the kids in the group. In the end, though, it was Whitnall's [player_tooltip player_id='1570957' first='Tanner' last='Effertz'] who established himself as the premier talent of the group from start to finish. It further verifies what we have been preaching here at Prep Redzone WI. The 2026 QB is a special talent.

Tanner brings an elite blend of size, arm strength, touch/accuracy, and mechanics to the position. The junior is able to make every throw on the field, and he can put the required velocity on the ball needed to win the rep. Our QB coaches were dialing up route concepts and breaking down the velocity they wanted on the ball and where they wanted the ball to be thrown to. Tanner was able to step in over and over and use pinpoint accuracy to put the ball where it had to be. It didn't matter if it was just inside the hash on a post route, 12 yards to the sideline on a deep out and on a rope, or dropping it over the shoulder on a corner route. It was up there with the best we have seen at a PRZ WI Showcase from start to finish. Effertz is a kid you need to watch throw live, and you need to bump him up your recruiting boards because he isn't high enough wherever you currently have him.

The RB MVP battle came down to the wire. The RB coach leading the group gave his final three choices and said whoever wins the Best vs Best reps will be the deciding factor. It was the freshman RB out of Bay Port who stepped up in the clutch moment, beat his LB, and won the rep. It was on a nice wheel route up the left sideline using speed to close cushion from the LB and then made a nice back shoulder grab.

It was great to see Jackson win the rep because it was a great sample of his day overall. The 2028 impressed with his athleticism from drills to 1 on 1 reps. He has explosive agility that allowed him to cut and accelerate instantly. His route running was smooth and the young playmaker was natural at finding the ball in the air and going and making a play on it. Jackson also plays with a well developed balance to be able to hit those jukes and route breaks efficiently. I'm very excited to watch this RB develop over the coming years after what I saw on Sunday.

What a day it was for Sam. From the jump he stood out and proved to be one of the most explosive athletes on the field. In the combine he started the buzz on what would be a great day with a 4.25 shuttle time. That time was just a hint towards what he would do during drills and 1 on 1s. To summarize his day, the 2027 looks like a WR that will be one of the toughest to stick to this fall.

Sam has an outstanding level of balance, explosive burst, and efficient footwork making his route running so crisp and effective. The sophomore was able to hit breaks at full speed all day with little to no wasted steps going into breaks. It is one thing to have that athleticism, it is another thing to also complete the package with the hands and ball tracking skills of a future collegiate WR. It is very easy to imagine the impact that Sam could have out of the slot in the future. I can't wait to see him over the coming months and watch the tape that comes out this fall. Get eyes on this kid. He is rising quickly.

In a very deep offensive line group Sam was able to stand out and make his presence known. The 1 on 1 environment and the drill work were the perfect stage for Sam. The '26 OL proved to be a technician. It was very obvious that he has been putting in the work this offseason and we got a front row seat to watching it translate to the field.

During the 1 on 1s I made sure to spend a lot of time with the OL/DL and that is where Sam secured his MVP. The dude was always in a position of power, ready to make that initial punch and then mirror his opponent or set a strong anchor. That anchor strength he flashed along with powerful hands was that of a high-end OL. He was able to use leverage to stand bull rushing DL straight up. When they tried to beat him side to side the big man so easily could slide his feet to mirror them. It was also very clear that Sam was confident in his abilities in those situations as I never saw him reach or overextend. He was patient and powerful. Things are due to really start to ramp up for him recruiting-wise.

London's performance in the OL vs DL battles was something special to watch. The sophomore was a nightmare to match up against. He had one of, if not the fastest first steps off the ball. Speed that had him quickly flying through gaps for win after win. His body control to also be able to make the quick lateral move while attacking downhill set him apart crowd as well.

The sophomore was undersized compared to a lot of the massive OL in attendance, however when it came to his hands there wasn't much of a mismatch. London was able to consistently flash quick, yet strong hands that got the OL's hands down or swatted to the side. If the first step didn't set up London for the quick victory then you could bet his hands were going to be working to keep himself clean from the massive wingspans he went up against. Hadley's win rate was off the charts, earning him a well deserved MVP title.

I love these showcase settings for watching LBs. Usually a lot of HS LB tape is loaded up with downhill, run stuffing plays or getting after the QB. A lot of plays of kids coming downhill, on the attack. But to be a next level LB you also need to prove that you can play in space and show that you can drop into coverage or run with an RB/TE. Sunday gave us those looks, and Bishop was quick to stand out from the crowd.

His athleticism allowed him to play comfortably in space. He has the lateral agility, burst, and balance that helped him shine in the 1 on 1 drills that had them simulating open field tackles vs RBs catching swing passes. Once we started going 1 on 1 with more wide open route options, Bishop again stood out. This time it was because of his acceleration and speed to be able to run downfield with RBs. Also he made several plays with his closing burst and timing with his hands to break up passes. Stoltz did well showing that he can be an asset when it comes to playing in space, earning him MVP honors.

Blayze came out and put on a show at DB, especially in the 1 on 1 battles to end the day. He finished the day with 1 INT and 7 PBUs while facing a DEEP group of WRs. I loved the aggressive play style that Caldwell brought to the field. The junior was able to play so aggressive because of the athleticism that he has developed within his frame.

It starts at the feet. Blayze has great quickness in short areas. That allowed him to press at the line, quickly read and react to route breaks and be right in the hip of the WR through those breaks. Even if the WR was able to open up some space, the junior was able to close quickly when he saw the ball in the air. That recovery speed again allowed him to be aggressive. The reactive athleticism definitely gives me confidence that he can play on the defensive side of the ball at the next level. The athlete also plays WR for Sauk Prairie too. Don't sleep on the versatile, athletic talent.
