College coaches will be attracted to North Gwinnett like a magnet this spring to pinpoint some of their top talent, which is dispersed well across their classes. Here are some notes from my stop there earlier this spring.

It was my first time seeing '26 OL [player_tooltip player_id='1319900' first='Zachary' last='Lewis'] in person. He is starting to grow into his frame and realize his potential. Listed around 6'5 280, he continues to pack on weight and add play strength. He is well equipped athletically, both with initial explosiveness and the movement skills to run in space. Lewis launched the shot put 50' 9.5'' in April, good enough for a region championship. Lewis checks the frame and athleticism boxes, plus the added benefit of growing naturally and not holding onto bad habits that come with playing at a higher weight.

'26 RB Kalil Mazone is a senior sleeper with clear D1 traits. He is a big, cut back at 6'1 205, and still has some room to bulk up his lower body. Mazone has battled through a sequence of unfortunate injuries, but that hasn't stopped him from adding D1 offers. His coaches had rave reviews about his character as well. He looks the part, has some bounce athletically, and will be battle-tested when he heads into college.

'26 CB Chauncey Davis has a share of FBS and P4 offers, making him one of the guys I wanted to get eyes on coming into practice. Long, thin, lean frame with plenty of space to fill out. Physical player. Crashes downhill hard and has some pop for a lighter guy. He gets his hands on receivers and is pesky throughout the route. His physical brand of football is what should impress coaches the most when they see him in person.

'27 DB [player_tooltip player_id='1397856' first='Bryson' last='Ford'] is a stock-up player who was a new name to me at practice. As far as the pure eye-test is concerned, Ford looks how they're supposed to look. Tall, long, lean, and will get bigger. Still a little raw and developing as a mover, but he has range from several spots. He projects best as a safety to the next level, but coaches will move him around this fall. Have heard rave reviews about his processing ability from the secondary. Holds some GO5 offers and will add plenty more.

'27 TE Max Patterson is a strong breakout candidate and someone I have highlighted before. The 2027 TE class in GA is still finding its structure, meaning there is time for guys like Patterson to emerge as top guys at the position in state. He is a massive basketball athlete at a true 6'6. He is simply a physical specimen who sticks out. He carries his weight well and will get bigger. Patterson already has several FBS/P4 offers and will draw eyes in two sports through the rest of his HS career.

'27 LB [player_tooltip player_id='1096397' first='Jake' last='Godfree'] is loaded with P4 offers. This is an easy eval. He is a stout, well-built 6'0 215. He plays with the physical nature you want in the second level, paired with the explosiveness to drive on the ball. He is a high-floor player thanks to his violent brand of football and his physical gifts.

'27 [player_tooltip player_id='580496' first='Elam' last='Rahman'] and '28 Banks Halcomb are both getting plenty of QB reps this spring, and both have some desirable traits to build off of. Rahman is a big-armed lefty with a compact release. Halcomb is the prototype, looking the part at 6'3 195 with some life on the ball. Both are breakout candidates and capable of generating recruiting buzz when everything clicks.
